Each repetition or observation of an experiment is a trial, and each possible result is an outcome. The sample space at an experiment is the set of an possible outcomes. An event is an outcome or set of outcomes in an experiment. Probability is the measure of how likely an event is to occur. Probabilities are written as fractions or decimals from 0 to 1, or as percents from 0% to 100%. Slide 3: Impossible As Likely as not Certain Unlikely likely 0% 50% 100% Events with a probability of o% never happen Events with a probability of 50% have the same chance of happening as not Events with a probability of 100% always happen Slide 4: You can estimate the probability of an even by performing an experiment. The experimental probability of an event is the ratio of the number of times the event occurs to the number of trials. The more trials performed, the more accurate the estimate will be. Slide 5: Answer The Questions And I Will Tell You Three Hannah Montana Secrets Slide 6: Identify the sample space und the outcome shown for each experiment. Tossing two Hannah Montana Token. Sample space: {HH, HT, TH, TT} Outcome shown: heads, tails (H, T) Spinning a Hannah Montana game spinner. Sample space: {yellow, red, blue, green} Outcome shown: green Slide 7: Write impossible, unlikely, as likely as not, likely, or certain to describe each event. There are 31 days in May in the Hannah Montana Calendar. May always has 31 days. This event is certain. Miley Cyrus correctly guesses a number between 1 and 1000. This event is unlikely. A Hannah Montana Token lands heads up. Heads is one of two possible outcomes. This event is as likely as not. Hannah Montana rolls a 10 on a standard number cube. A standard number cube is numbered 1 through 6. This event is impossible. Slide 8: An experiment consists of Hannah Montana’s best friends choosing randomly a background color for her photos between three colors. Note: Hannah Montana has 12 best friends Use the result in the table to find the experimental probability of each event. Choosing blue. Total 12 Not choosing green. Choosing red Not choosing red Slide 9: The Secrets Hannah Montana Is actually Miley Cyrus. Hannah Montana’s acting father is her real father. Hannah Montana ROCKS !!!!. Slide 10: THE END You do not have the permission to view this presentation. In order to view it, please contact the author of the presentation.
