Published research reports may have limited clinical application and rarely appears in clinical journals.Slide 5: Researcher do not understand or approach practice issues from a clinical perspectives . Pertinent findings never reach clinicians. Dearth of reported replications of studies.Slide 6: BARRIERS RELATED TO NURSING PROFESSION: Difficult to encourage clinicians & researchers to interact and collaborate Lack of communication between researchers and practitioners. Lack of enough authority to change patient care procedures .Slide 7: The historical baggage --varying degree of importance is assigned to research utilization education during entry level of programs. Shortage of appropriate role models . Nurse administrator may not value or recognize the importance of research based practice.Slide 9: The clinical environment may not support the research utilization process and inherent concept of change. Within the setting there may be linked access to individuals with expertise in research methods or minimal collaboration between academia and practice.Slide 10: Scarce of availability of library resources including journals and computerized searches may affect the clinicians ability to access information.Slide 11: CLINCIAN BARRIERS: Lack of research knowledge May not have positive attitude towards research . Some opposition to introducing innovations in practice setting.Slide 12: Practicing nurses may not value using research or understand how it differs from conducting research.
