MY SILENT FRIEND :

MY SILENT FRIEND By: Linda J. Hutchinson

I have a silent friend that is extremely neat, that stays with me night and day. :

She keeps me company, follows me, shares my hopes, dreams and happiness, she also joins me when I pray. :

I love my silent friend, she joined me at my birth and will stay with me until my death. :

She goes with me everywhere, she never get's tired, hungry, hot or cold, and she never takes a breath. :

She is on the walls, floors, ceilings and the ground, with her near, I never get lonely, I can't feel her touches, nor she mine. :

She is there when I walk, jump or run, but I never trip over her, no matter where she may be, nor whatever the time. :

Though silly, I sometimes speak out to her for comfort, and if I do not see her I wonder, is she lost, or hiding from me? :

We are devoted to each other for life, but we are not bound to each other, we are both independent and free. :

As I awake each morning and the sun shines brightly, she can be found everywhere, out, in and even in my room. :

On stormy days she is a bit harder to see, but there with me, she shares my boredom, loneliness and my gloom. :

At night when I turn off the lights she sits, stands or lies with me, no matter where I remain. :

I can't see her there, but I know she is waiting patiently for me; we have a bond too deep to explain. :

As my life on earth continues, I know I can depend on her being my constant loyal friend. :

Often I wonder what will become of her, when my life comes to an end. :

Will she be sad, seek out a new friend, vanish, or float around forever, alone? :

I hope she can be happy, I am glad we shared a life together, but then I guess we will be on our own. :

It will be hard to say goodbye to my constant companion of whom I can't hear, but her unique image I can see. :

As I go to another world, I wonder if my silent friend will stay behind, or will my dear shadow come along with me? :
