Optical Fibres When a wave crosses a boundary between two media, it may be either refracted or totally internally reflected (TIR).

Optical Fibres :

Why use optical fibres? : 

They allow for extremely fast data transfer as the information carrier travels at the speed of light. This process is less subject to noise and data corruption than electrically based data transfer. Why use optical fibres?
