In “Dangerous Liaisons” we learned the truth about Esther’s return to Mystic Falls. Yes, she does want to reunite her family so that they can be as one. But, here’s the twist. She only wants them united so that she can undue the evil she created over one thousand years ago.

Right now, it is the only way to destroy Klaus. Although Elijah remains in the dark but suspicious of his mother’s true plan, Finn is completely on board. While Tyler is away learning how to break his sire bond to Klaus, the Hybrid is out courting Tyler’s girl Caroline. Klaus impressed Caroline by offering her a gift from his heart, a hand-drawn picture of Caroline next to a horse. The gift came wrapped up in a necklace gift box, surprising Caroline.
