Founded in 1996 with two staff in Kakrail, Dhaka to provide sexual health services for MSM Received registration from Social Welfare and NGO bureau in 1997 First donor The Royal Norwegian Embassy (1997-2004) and then UNDP, CARE-Bangladesh and scaling up by USAID/FHI in October 2000 Advocacy initiatives started by support from DFID/MJF in 2006 BSWS lobbied with GOB to include MSM & Hijra/TG issues in National policy and National Strategic Plan in 1997 Part of National Surveillance since 1997 First GOB support enabled May 2007 Currently implementing programme in 14 areas in Bangladesh Current employees over 200 Background

Current Mission, Vision & Goals Mission Statement: Bandhu Social Welfare Society works toward the well-being of stigmatized and socially-excluded males and their partners, by providing sexual health services and supporting human rights and livelihoods. Vision Statement: Bandhu Social Welfare Society envisions a society in Bangladesh where every person, irrespective of their gender and sexuality, is able to access quality health care services and support for their human rights.
