*SS7G6a* High amount of water pollution in SW Asia: Lowers the amount of water for drinking and for irrigation (for farming) Water is a major political topic in SW Asia because: Everyone needs it, but there is only a limited amount available

SS7G7 SS7G7: “The student will explain the impact of location, climate, physical characteristics, distribution of natural resources, and population distribution on SW Asia (Middle East).”

SS7G7a Large oil supply in SW Asia has caused foreigners to compete for influence in the region There is an abundance of oil, but a scarcity of water in the Middle East The Persian Gulf is an important body of water because most of the world’s oil originates and is shipped from there
