NYSERDA Overview Established in 1975 by the NYS legislature Authorized in 1998 by the Public Service Commission to administer the System Benefits Charge fund to facilitate deregulation. SBC funds used to promote energy efficiency, R&D, and low-income support

System Benefits Charge Public Policy Goals: 

System Benefits Charge Public Policy Goals Improve system-wide reliability and increase peak electricity reductions Improve energy efficiency and access to energy options Reduce the environmental impacts of energy production and use Facilitate competition in the electricity markets

The New York ENERGY STAR® Labeled Homes Program More than 7,000 New York ENERGY STAR Labeled Homes have been built 251 Participating Builders statewide ENERGY STAR Labeled Home saves approximately 690 kWh and 50 MMBtu per year Average homeowner saves over $1,000 per year Average incremental cost of $2,000 = simple payback of 2 years Statewide cumulative annual electric savings of 5,261 MWh and fossil fuel savings of 377,951 MMBtu per year
