Important Terms Spider/ Bot / Robot / Crawler – It is a program that visits Web sites and reads their pages and other information in order to create entries for a search engine index Crawling - Before a search engine can tell you where a file or document is, it must be found. To find information on the hundreds of millions of Web pages that exist, a search engine employs special software robots, called spiders , to build lists of the words found on Web sites. When a spider is building its lists, the process is called Web crawling . Ind exing - Once the spiders have completed the task of finding information on Web pages, the search engine must store the information in a way that makes it useful.Here’s where indexing comes into the picture. Pages of a website are indexed by crawler to save in its database. This saving process is called indexing. There may be hundreds of pages in your website. But every page will be indexed, it can’t be assured Pages indexed is checked by “ site:domain.com ”

Advanced Google Search Operators “ site :” “ intitle :” - Google will only return results of pages that have that search  in the title  rather than the meta description or title tags . For eg : intitle :”email marketing tips ” will bring up results where the exact phrase “email marketing tips” is in the title “ Inurl :” - If you wanted to find pages on a site that has your targeted search term in the URL, and the second term in content on a website, you could use this operator.    ” Related:” Sometimes you need to find sites that are related to sites you already know.

By putting  info:  before a URL, you’ll get different types of information about any site “ A llintitle : ” - operator lets you search for entire phrases in titles “ A llinurl :” - operator will show entire phrases in URLs “ A llinpostauthor :” - If you know who wrote an article you’re looking for “ filetype :” - If you’re after a specific filetype eg : filetype:pdf

It’s designed to stop them from ranking, especially for high-competition keywords, until they’re more established and Google can determine what the site is about . So many new websites are launched every day; many of them employ techniques to manipulate the search engine and gain more clicks. Google doesn’t want to lift these less-relevant sites to the top of a search. Many new sites are filtered until their intent and techniques are determined to be positive ones . Page Rank – It is an algorithm used by Google search to rank websites in search engine results . According to Google: PageRank works by counting the number and quality of links to a page to determine a rough estimate of how important the website is. The underlying assumption is that more important websites are likely to receive more links from other websites.It is not the only algorithm used by Google to order search engine results, but it is the first algorithm that was used by the company, and it is the best-known .
