Unfortunately I don't think this is behind us YET, not in the U.K. and not in the U.S. In both countries. We have allowed an erosion in social values in favor of individual rights and a very "soft" approach to instilling values in youth. We have taken from people the "drive to survive" or individual responsibility for one's well-being. Our social programs encourage pregnancy with no obligation on the parents. I think the closing slide with the tee shirt statement " about looters being scum and the good citizens taking back their neighhborhood is a symbol of the future but we are not there yet.
