Operation Nightwatch is a night ministry offering friendship community healing

Slide 5: 

We welcome each person as an individual, regardless of his or her faith or personal belief.

Slide 6: 

No one is required to participate in any of our activities before receiving services.

Slide 7: 

The Nightwatch Hospitality Center is located in the Julia West House, SW 13th and Alder in downtown Portland.

Slide 8: 

The Hospitality Center is a warm and safe place– a living room for the neighborhood– where lonely hotel residents, homeless people camping out, and others can come to talk, play games, read, or just rest.

Slide 9: 

We serve coffee and sandwiches and distribute socks, clothing, blankets, and personal hygiene items.

Slide 10: 

The Hospitality Center is open 7 p.m. - 11 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Our Hospitality Center includes a courtyard so guests can be outside without having to be on the sidewalk.

Operation Nightwatch is many other things

The last Wednesday of each month we celebrate Birthday Night with . . . cake and ice cream for everyone!

One Tuesday night a month, we have popcorn and lemonade, and watch a comedy film. Together, we enjoy the healing power of laughter.

Slide 15: 

Day trip outings to nearby parks and cultural sites let Nightwatch guests get away from the city for a time of recreation and renewal.

Slide 16: 

Two Saturdays a month, volunteer nurses provide foot care for many of our friends who have to spend too much time on their feet. The nurses wash and massage feet trim nails offer a clean pair of socks

A worship service is held on Sunday evenings for those who want to “go to church,” but feel uncomfortable in conventional church services.

Weekly Bible study allows opportunity for personal spiritual development.

Slide 19: 

December is the occasion for our annual Christmas party and its food, gifts, and carols.

Slide 20: 

Every year Nightwatch holds a Memorial Service at the Downtown Chapel to remember and affirm the lives of street friends who died during the year.

All these services and activities depend on support from our volunteers and donors.

Operation Nightwatch is a non-profit, totally funded by donations from individuals and organizations. We do not receive funding from any governmental organization.

We provide hospitality, hope, and healing at times where otherwise there would be none.
