Premium member Presentation Transcript Librarian’s Annual Report Olds Municipal Library in 2010: Librarian’s Annual Report Olds Municipal Library in 2010 Lesley Winfield, Library ManagerCollection and Resources: Collection and Resources Print Collections Items added in 2010 – 2663 Items deleted in 2010 – 4490 Total print collection: 36228 Non-Print Collections Audio Books: 1342 Music: 832 DVD: 1475 Total Non-Print Collection: 3649 eBooks In 2010 the Olds Municipal Library added 200 eBooks to the global collection. Our patrons also have the advantage of accessing hundreds of eAudiobooks. The 2011 budget has been adjusted to give money for further collection development in this area.Circulation: Circulation Direct Circulation Total: 85,399 Even thought the library was closed for one full month while moving we still saw an increase in circulation from 82,000 – 85,000 If we had been open we would have likely seen 90,000 items circulated.Circulation: Circulation Monthly BreakdownInterlibrary Loans: Interlibrary Loans Item’s borrowed from other libraries doubled in one year 7222 – 14102 Item’s lent to other libraries tripled in one year 8815 – 24453Library Use: Library Use Reference Transactions (estimate) Person to Person: 7172 Telephone or fax: 715 Electronic: 150 Total all Transactions: 8037 In House Use: Books read in the library: 13156 Virtual Visits to the Library: 108,329 Physical Visits to the library: 44,530Programming: Programming Create Young Readers: Early Literacy - Outcome: Children from birth to age five will have programs and services designed to ensure that they will enter school ready to learn to read, write , and listen. (e.g. story times, summer reading, books for babies, C.O.W. bus)Programming: Programming Learn to Read and Write: Adult, Teen, and Family Literacy - Outcome: Adults and teens will have the support they need to improve their literacy skills in order to meet their personal goals and fulfil their responsibilities as parents, citizens, and workers.Programming: Programming Satisfy Curiosity: Lifelong Learning – Outcome: Residents will have the resources they need to explore topics of personal interest and continue to learn throughout their lives.Programming: Programming Build Successful Enterprises: Business and Non-Profit Support – Outcomes: Business owners and non-profit organization directors and their managers will have the resources they need to develop and maintain strong, viable organizations.Programming: Programming Visit a Comfortable Place: Physical and Virtual Spaces – Outcome: Residents will have safe and welcoming physical places to meet and interact with others or to sit quietly and read and will have open and accessible virtual spaces that support networking.Programming: Programming Know Your Community: Community Resources and Services – Outcome: Residents will have a central source for information about the wide variety of programs, services, and activities provided by community agencies and organizations.Programming: Programming Make Informed Decisions: Health, Wealth, and Other Life Choices – Outcome: Residents will have the resources they need to identify and analyze risks, benefits, and alternatives before making decisions that affect their lives.Programming: Programming Welcome to Canada: Service for New Immigrants - Outcome: New immigrants will have information on citizenship, English Language Learning (ELL), employment, public schooling, health and safety, available social services, and any other topics that they need to participate successfully in Canadian life. Celebrate Diversity: Cultural Awareness – Outcome: Residents will have programs and services that promote appreciation and understanding of their personal heritage and the heritage of others in the community. (e.g. multicultural fair, poetry readings)Programming: Programming Discover Your Roots: Genealogy and Local History – Outcome: Residents and visitors will have the resources they need to connect the past with the present through their family histories and to understand the history and traditions of the community.Programming: Programming Connect to the Online world: Public Internet Access - Outcome: Residents will have highspeed access to the digital world with no unnecessary restrictions or fees to ensure that everyone can take advantage of the ever-growing resources and services available through the Internet .
