Slide 1:

The Spifftastic Spiffy Legacy Chapter 1 This is just stuff I like. Couldn’t resist. Carry on to the next slide! ?

Slide 2:

“It’s a beautiful day.” “Sure is.” “That cloud looks like a parsnip!” “Why yes, it does indeed!” …….. “Hey, do you hear that?” “Yeah… Sounds like a bulldozer.”

Slide 3:

--PING!-- Insta-house. “Oh my god, Adam…it’s a house!” “Wha– a– but how?! How did it get here?” They stared at eachother, lost for words. Then Clare spoke with a reckless edge to her voice. “I’m goin’ in.” She grinned.

Slide 4:

The dirty blue door creaked open. Clare took a cautious step inside to find nothing waiting to ambush her. “Well, so far, so good!” she whispered to Adam. “Uh, Clare, I don’t know… it looks sort of… haunted or something,” Adam hung back warily. “Oh, come on. Stop being so scared. It’s lovely inside! Come on, let’s explore.”

Slide 5:

“Wow! Those walls are so artsy. And the quilt on the bed is simply adorable. Oh, and look at that cute little radio on the desk!” Clare said, examining the room with widened eyes and a huge grin on her face.

Slide 6:

“Hmmm…. Interesting clutter. I notice we have not only a toaster and a spice rack, but also some lovely dirty dishes in the sink. Great.”

Slide 7:

“This patio is beautiful! Those bushes have the loveliest flowers. And they look so pretty with the neon-grungy walls!” * *I’ve decided I love neon-grungy. ?

Slide 8:

“Ahhh. Comfy couch… so very comfy… Mnnmmn…” Adam’s eyes drifted slowly shut.

Slide 9:

“Oh my god! Everything matches! It’s incredible! I’m going to be taking baths as much as possible now.”

Slide 10:

After all the rooms had been explored, the couple relaxed in the living room. “You know, I’ve always wanted a fireplace. And now we have one.” “Me too. I’m almost done starting up the fire. Can you feel the warmth?” “Mmm. It feels nice.” Adam stepped back and looked at the now blazing fire in satisfaction. Pretty good for a first try! He then joined Clare on the couch.

Slide 11:

“You know, Adam, it’s not just the fireplace. I feel like everything I’ve ever wanted is coming true. I have a beautiful house. I have a family. And I have you. I love you.” “Aren’t you upset about the Balwyns, still?” “Of course! But I’m getting over it, slowly. I’m really excited about starting a new legacy, you know. That helps.”

Slide 12:

“So am I, Clare. Really. I can’t wait to start a family with you.” “Unfortunately, you’re going to have to wait.” Adam smiled a mischievous smile. “All the more time to spend with you. I love you, Clare.”

Slide 13:

And with that, the waiting began.

Slide 14:

The next few days of waiting were nevertheless enjoyable. Mostly, they were spent: Enjoying the nice Custom Content I got especially for them…

Slide 15:

…Eating lovely dinners with family and friends…

Slide 16:

…Meeting and greeting the famous locals…

Slide 17:

…”Hey, Sandy, I’ve heard all about you! You’re very well known, you know!” “Really? Wow, I had no idea someone like me could be so—” “Say, Sandy, a makeover table has mysteriously placed itself directly behind me! What do you say to a little makeover?” “Um, sure?”

Slide 18:

Really, I don’t know what all the fuss is about when it comes to Sandy and her looks. She isn’t that bad. I’ve seen uglier at my school… hehe.

Slide 19:

…and, erm… making the most of their new bedroom. But they didn’t go too far, of course– wouldn’t really want to get pregnant before the legacy even began!

Slide 20:

Finally, after a long week, they knew their waiting was almost over. Clare had butterflies in her stomach that felt more like huge, fluttering bats. She was looking forward to starting a family, but she still had her doubts. She couldn’t believe it was so close to actually happening.

Slide 21:

Clare was being so unnaturally quiet, Adam knew at once something was wrong. “Are you nervous, too?” he asked quietly. Clare turned to face him. “Very,” she sighed. Then she found she couldn’t stop talking. “I’m nervous about starting a family! I mean, a week ago, when it seemed so long away, the idea sounded great. But now that it’s actually going to happen, I’m not sure. What if I mess something up? I feel like I’d be letting the Balwyns down!”

Slide 22:

“Listen, Clare, no matter what happens, you could never, never be letting the Balwyns down. I’m sure they’d be proud of you. And I’m absolutely sure that you’ll make a great mother.” “You really think so?” Clare had tears in her eyes.

Slide 23:

…… Just then, there was an earth-shattering crash!

Slide 27:

“Urrgh. What’s going on? Where are we?” “I donno… ugh….” They both pushed themselves up off the bed.

Slide 28:

“Wait– Adam? You look so– different. Like, your face is all—” “Sort of lumpy? Yours too.” They both smirked. “You know what that means,” Adam continued. “We’re in the Sims 3!”

Slide 29:

“And you know what that means…?” Clare took a deep breath. “We can start the legacy. At last.” “When you say ‘at last’, do you mean you want to—” “Yep! Why not get started right away?”

Slide 30:

“You sure about this, Clare? We could explore the town a bit first, meet some new—”“Shh, Adam. I’ve never been more sure about anything in my life.”

Slide 31:

And that was the first day.

Slide 32:

Clare got up early the next morning. She’d thought she knew cravings before-- Lindt chocolate and Monster energy drinks were her kind of thing– but never had she felt cravings quite like this. It was a good thing she always made sure there was chocolate ice cream in the house, for she felt she might go on an axe-wielding rampage if she didn’t eat some right away.

Slide 33:

After demolishing the tub of Rocky Road, Clare went out to explore Sunset Valley. As she browsed books outside the store in Mirabello Plaza, she got to chatting with a kindly lady with a good sense of humor rather like Clare’s own. Clare, who tended towards the antisocial side most of the time, was proud to have struck up conversation.

Slide 34:

It was as she was walking home that she noticed. Her belly had a slight bulge; suddenly the extreme craving and feelings of nausea that had been haunting her made sense. Now she knew what to look for in her next pregnancy. She became more and more excited at the prospect of telling her husband the good news as she walked on home.

Slide 35:

“Hey, Adam?” Clare began shyly, watching him paint with fondness. “Mm? Hey, I was thinking, we really should paint these walls. They’re ugly. I can do it if you want.” Adam turned to his wife, wrinkling his nose at the sickly mustard color of the room.

Slide 36:

“Sure, you can paint the walls if you want. But, listen, I have some pretty big news. I’m pregnant, Adam.” “Really?!” Clare laughed. “Yes!”

Slide 37:

“That’s amazing, Clare… just think… in there is our little son or daughter…” Adam’s voice cracked with pride. “Are you tearing up?” Clare teased. Adam punched her arm playfully. “None of your business.”

Slide 38:

They celebrated with some homemade ‘Autumn Salad’ in their brand-spanking-new kitchen. Which took me forever to decorate. Create-A-Style is great! “Names?” Clare inquired. Adam lapsed into thoughtful silence. “Nothing ordinary…” he mused. “Mm. Yeah. A theme would be nice."

Slide 39:

As dusk faded to night, they sat outside under the giant oak tree in the backyard…

Slide 40:

…Watching the stars, remembering the good old Sims 2 days… and hoping for the future. That was the second day.

Slide 41:

“Hey! Abby?” Clare couldn’t wait to share the good news with the rest of the town. “Hi, Clare! What’s up?” “I’ve got some pretty cool news… want to come over?” “Definitely. Be right there!”

Slide 42:

Once Abby had come over, Clare excitedly broke the news. “So, I bet you’d thought I just put on a ton of weight overnight. But that’s not why I’m wearing these baggy old clothes. It’s because I’m pregnant!”

Slide 43:

“That’s great, Clare. Congrats. And if you need any help– I’ve heard pregnancy is tough– you can count on me!” “Aw, thanks, Abby.” Clare had this warm, fuzzy feeling in her heart; she felt pretty sure she’d just made a friend.

Slide 44:

“So, how was your first day at work?” “Ok. Well– not really. Pretty stressful, really. I had to stay two hours late.” “That’s too bad. I learnt how to make a new dish today, Goopy Carbonara! It’s really good. There’s some in the freezer if you want it. And my friend Abby came over!”

Slide 45:

“That’s nice.” Adam said. “Oh, it was. I told her about—” Clare replied, leaning over to give her husband a cuddle— “Don’t touch me!” Adam suddenly snapped.

Slide 46:

Clare gasped and was on her feet. “What?!” she exclaimed, shocked, the lump in her throat threatening to overflow. “How come I have to be the responsible adult around here! Why don’t you have to work? You know how hard it is, supporting an entire family by myself?” Clare’s mouth hung open. “I’m pregnant, Adam! What the hell am I supposed to do?”

Slide 47:

Adam appeared to talk several deep, calming breaths, and the anger ebbed out of his face. “I know,” he said sorrowfully, “I’m sorry I yelled.” “You should be,” Clare said coldly, still shell-shocked. “I’m just stressed. Please forgive me. I’m trying to be a good husband…”

Slide 48:

“But you are a good husband!” Clare stopped him, taking his face in both her hands. “All couples fight. I don’t want anyone else but you, okay? Even if you are stressed. Don’t forget it.”

Slide 49:

“Promise me you will never forget it.” “I love you…” “That works, too.”

Slide 50:

…….

Slide 51:

“I can hear him! Hear him kicking!” Adam gasped. “’He’ could be a girl,” Clare reminded him, “And I think he or she is almost here…”

Slide 52:

Clare was right. “I don’t think that was a normal cramp…”

Slide 53:

“I have to get to the hospital!” she shrieked to no-one in particular.

Slide 54:

Luckily she made it…

Slide 55:

…and several painful hours later walked out of the hospital with a baby boy, who she named Quartz after Quartz Balwyn, second generation heir from my last legacy. Clare couldn’t be prouder.

Slide 56:

As she looked down at her new baby boy in his crib, she was overwhelmed with feelings. She had a child. She had done it. And if she could have one child– well, now anything was possible.

Slide 57:

She grinned at this thought… and then climbed into bed beside her sleeping husband.

Slide 58:

That’s the end of chapter 1. I didn’t really get far into the actual legacy, did I? Oh well, plenty of time for that. Tell me what you thought of this chapter, anyway. The next chapter will probably be a while, because I need some time to explore TS3 properly. But until then, bye! PS: Notice the picture above of me acting, well… me-like. Hehe.
