When we last left off, Asimov, the heir, had decided not to go to college, and instead stay at home to work on his robotics. Leonardo and Curie, the twin spares, had gone to Uni. Leonardo had signed up to participate in a Bachelor Challenge, and Curie married her college love Dawson Platz. They had twin children, Portia and Morning. Galilei and Benny had seen Keanu and Sheldon off to college, and had decided to adopt a child. Einstein was still missing. But where could he possibly be? Part 2 of 2 Slide 2: Lala saw an immediate change in Asimov’s mood. “I missed you last night, Azzy, are you feeling okay?” “Lala, I’ve never felt…” Slide 3: “…better…” Slide 4: “So, are you okay about… about the baby? Because, I know you were scared, and all, and I felt really bad about just putting it on you like that.” “Of course I’m scared, Lala. It’s normal. But, the point is, no matter how scared me are, we have to try to be the best parents we can.” Slide 5: “And I’m ready to try.” **** Slide 6: Asimov’s relief brought the couple even closer. They had fallen in love fast, and so had missed much of an opportunity to get to know each other. But now, they had the opportunity to do so. They could often be found cuddling, snuggling, or just watching TV together. But, no matter what they were doing, there was one consistency: it was always together. Slide 7: They were… often to be found making out on the couch. The family tended to stay out of the living room when Asimov and Lala were about. Slide 8: Morty was still on his quest to discover what it meant to “be” a sim. He could often be found around the house, asking strange questions to his masters. “Mistress Kendra, what does it mean to… love?” He asked one evening as Kendra made her way into the living room with the intent of watching TV. Upon seeing Morty there, looking at her curiously, she sighed, knowing that she would not be watching that werewolf flick tonight. Slide 9: “Well, Morty, love is kind of hard to explain. It’s this… feeling that sims get when they want to be with a sim, when they want to kiss them, and talk to them, and, well, woohoo with them. That’s basically the only way I can explain it.” “I am having a hard time grasping the concept, Mistress Kendra. I don’t understand.” Slide 10: “It’s not, something that I can explain, Morty. It’s a sim thing. There’s just some things that robots… can’t understand.” “I… see, Mistress Kendra. Thank you for your time.” Slide 11: “Come on, babies, we’re waiting to see you!” “Asimov, I’ve got this bad feeling…” Slide 12: “Oh, ow. Asimov! They’re coming! HELP!!!” “What do you want me to do?! I’m helpless here!” Slide 13: “Oh, calm down, Lala, please. I’ve done this twice, dear, just breathe deeply a few times, and it’ll be over in a minute.” “I’m TRYING to breathe deeply, but it’s not working! Oh OW.” Slide 14: “Oh, what did I do to serve this?!’ What do you mean? You aren’t doing anything! “She hit me on the head when I tried to help. Oh, OW.” I’m sorry. Being hit by a pregnant woman in labor is no picnic, I have no doubt about that. Slide 15: But, the labor was worth it, because before either of them knew it, Lala was holding a little girl in her arms. “Asimov, what’ll we name her? Does it have to be a scientist’s name?” “Yeah, Lala, that’s the rules. But I’ve got the perfect name for her. We should call her Newton. After Sir Isaac. Newt for short.” “Alright. Newt then. But, Asimov-” “Hm?” Slide 16: “I need to spin again. Hold her for a minute.” Slide 17: And, after her next twirl, she held a little boy in her arms. They decided to name him Watson, after, well… Watson. Look him up, if you must. Slide 18: The twins were born with black hair and their father’s purple eyes, although Newt was born with her mother’s skin tone, and Wats with his dad’s. Slide 19: And, despite Asimov’s reservations about being a father, he made a very good dad. He would always run to see his children, whether it was to cuddle Newt, or to feed a bottle to a hungry Wats. The children were well cared for by their father, even better so than by their grandmother or their mother. The truth was, he just couldn’t stay away. He enjoyed every minute of being a dad. Slide 20: “Hey there, little Newt,” he would coo at his infant daughter. “When you grow up, we’re gonna have so much fun…” Slide 21: “Don’t mind me, just checking on the pups.” Leroy’s ghost made his first appearance in a while to see the babies. It didn’t matter whether he was dead or alive; he still felt the responsibility to watch out for his family. Slide 22: Mendel also came to check out his great grandchildren. “I know that Asimov can do it.” The family can only hope that what Gregor thought is right. **** Slide 23: “So, Benny, we’ve got an empty nest, and the adoption agency won’t arrive until tomorrow morning. What exactly should we do?” Galilei asked as she embraced her husband the evening after the boys had headed to college. Slide 24: “Hm, well, Galilei, we only have all night…” There was much giggling, cuddling, and woohoo after that. Slide 25: They sat down for a nice breakfast the next morning while waiting for the van to arrive. Even though the omelets were burned, they were together, and happy, and that was all that mattered. But Galilei had something to say that disrupted the peace of the morning. Slide 26: “You’re going to do what?” Benny laughed, thinking he had misheard her. Galilei scowled. “I mean it, Ben, I’m going to find him. In one way or another. But I need your help. I need you to see if you can find Einstein.” Slide 27: “But Galilei, it’s been so long… what is something’s…?” “Don’t say that, Benny, I know he’s alive, I can feel it. Call it a… twin’s intuition, if you will.” “But how will you- we- find him?” Slide 28: “We can… put up a missing person’s add on the internet. See if anyone in Oddity has seen or heard anything about him anywhere. There are ways, Benny.” “I know, I know… I just… I don’t want you to be disappointed, dear. I would hate for you to get upset if we can’t find him.” Slide 29: “Don’t worry about me, Benny, I know that that’s always a possibility. The point is, we tried. If we can’t find him, then, yeah, I’ll be disappointed, but I’ll just try to look for him harder. This is something that I need to do, though, and I need you to understand that.” “Alright, baby, just don’t go too far. I’ll handle the search on the internet. You don’t bother with anything, alright? Just take care of our child, when he/she arrives.” “I… promise,” she began, hesitantly. It wasn’t a promise that she knew she could keep, but she was interrupted by a honking outside, which the two only knew to be the adoption agency van. Slide 30: Despite Galilei wanting a girl, the adoption agency had different plans, and a boy joined the family that day, named- Maxis has a since of humor, I’m convinced of that now. The kid is named Weldon! Weldon and Sheldon! WTF?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Wow EA, you’ve outdone yourself this time! Slide 31: “We’re glad to have you here Sh-Weldon. We’ve always planned on adopting a child.” “I’m glad to be here, Dad. I’ve always wanted a family.” Doing that to parents is just cruel. My mom has enough of a problem trying to avoid calling me one of my sisters’ names, imagine if our names rhymed! Slide 32: “So, what do you want to do first, Weldon?” “Well, I want to go to the park, and dance, and play with a kite, and watch TV, and play on the computer, and learn piano, and make a friend, and go to school, and…” He’s got big dreams. I like it. Slide 33: But before he could play with his son, Benny had to keep his promise to Galilei. He put up adds on the internet for Einstein, and even did a little research to see if he might be able to see where he had gone. Slide 34: He had no success. Slide 35: Galilei was spending time with her son in her own… special way. “Well, if you want to find a missing person, the gypsy is the right way to go. I mean, I know this really great one in Oddity… they can find just about anybody, even pets! And they can read your fortune too!” “Oh, really? Well, it certainly sounds interesting…” Slide 36: “Oh, believe me, it is! Trust me, mom, it really works. If anyone can find your brother, this lady can! She’s got a crystal ball and everything!” *Ignore the plumbbob, my apologies.* Slide 37: She wasn’t sure, but it sounded… pretty convincing. Slide 38: She thought she would invite her brother over, and see what he thought of the situation. “Galilei! It’s been a long time, how are you?” “I’m fine, Darwin. You’re looking a little rough though. Kidding.” “Ha ha, very funny, but wait until you go grey. You won’t be laughing then.” Slide 39: “So, how are the grandchildren?” “Ah, they’re good, dear. The both sets of twins are absolutely adorable. But, you didn’t ask me hear to hear about my grandchildren, did you?” She sighed. Somehow, he always knew. “You caught me. It’s about Einstein instead…” Slide 40: “Galilei, you have to give this up! Even if our brother is still around here, he’s ceased to be our brother. He didn’t come to us, he’s not attempted to get in contact with us, we can’t worry about him anymore. We have to worry about our own families.” “Don’t you see anymore?! He IS our family, Darwin! And he might be in trouble!” She was getting mad at him now. What had happened to him when he turned into an elder? Slide 41: Darwin was quiet for a moment, and then spoke softly. “Maybe we should… take this inside.” **** Slide 42: “Galilei, can you understand that? We haven’t seen him for such a long time… he must be gone from this place.” “Darwin, I’m his twin. I can feel him. It was something I always tried to ignore when I was a kid, but I just can’t shake the feeling right now that something is really, really wrong. We have to find him!” Slide 43: “Galilei, I see what you’re saying, but going on a wild goose chase isn’t the solution. You have no idea if this woman can help you, and if she can’t, then you’ll just be left disappointed.” “Darwin, if it means I’m trying, then I don’t care what kind of answers I get. The point is, I’m looking for him. Can YOU say that much?” Slide 44: “Galilei, if you feel that you must do this, then you must. I won’t try to stop you. I learned a long time ago that that doesn’t work. But I have my own family to think about. So I won’t be helping you. I have to go now. Take care.” He stood up, kissing the top of her head, and left the house. Galilei was left scowling on the couch. I don’t need his help… Slide 45: Early the next morning, she stood outside the house, and looked up at it with a look of anguish. She hadn’t wanted it to come to this, but she needed some answers. And this seemed like the best way to get them. Slide 46: “I’m sorry, Benny,” she said to herself more than to anyone else. The wind blew through her bright red hair that she had stuffed under her hat, and the sun looked just a little dimmer in her shades. She was filled with doubt and fear, doubt that she would find information, and fear that what she would find, she wouldn’t like. Slide 47: But it didn’t stop her. She turned on her heel and walked briskly off of the lot, making her way down the empty morning streets. **** Slide 48: It was a strange house that she found herself at, the ground covered with a layer of dense fog and ivy growing up the sides of the building. Slide 49: A strange cat had followed her up to the door from somewhere hidden on the lot, and looked up at her with its deep penetrating eyes, not making a sound, just looking at her. It creeped her out to no end, but she was determined. A cat with eerie green eyes wasn’t going to stop her from getting answers. Slide 50: “Hello?” She called out, pushing the door to the house open and walking inside. She found herself in a cramped room full of large, draping curtains. There were many peculiar decorations n the place, including a few round, purple orbs and a plant with leaves that were obviously sharp. She was careful not to put her hands on anything that might bring her harm. “Back here!” The voice of a young woman called from behind the curtains. Galilei pushed her way back and found who she was looking for. Slide 51: “Galilei, it’s so nice to see you! Of course, I just spoke to you on the phone, but it’s lovely that you’re here in person. You’ve got a lovely aura,” the gypsy woman Dez said, moving to hug Galilei in greeting. Slide 52: “It’s very nice to see you Ms.-” “Dez. Just call me by my first name. It’s all loose here, Galilei.” The young woman looked very peculiar, with a large variety of piercings in her face and a strange getup. But, she seemed pleasant, and Galilei had a feeling that she would be able to help her. Slide 53: “Now, come, sit down, and I’ll be attempting to contact… You twin brother, is that right?” The young woman’s raspberry colored eyes sparkled in excitement. “Yes, that’s right,” she replied, sitting down as Dez had requested. Slide 54: “Hm… let’s see if we can find your brother. I’ll need you to concentrate hard for me, Galilei, on the bond that you two have. It’s very important that you focus hard on the relationship of your auras.” “A-alright.” Galilei concentrated on her brother as hard as she could. She focused on that feeling that she felt from him, that feeling that told her that he was alive. Slide 55: The young woman began to hum, softly at first, with the sound growing continually. It was one note, not a melody, just a long, continuous sound. Galilei made sure it didn’t get into the way of her concentration. Slide 56: After about 30 minutes of this, the lady looked at Galilei sadly. “I’m having a hard time getting a reading on this crystal, Galilei, I’m sorry,” Dez said. But then her eyes shone brightly again. “But my crystal upstairs is much better. If anything can find him, that one can! Follow me!” Slide 57: The gypsy lead her way to the next story, where Galilei assumed the woman lived. The cat was there, scratching away on a post, along with an old fridge and a counter, a bed, and a small cat bed. But it was what was in the middle of the room that captured Galilei’s attention. Slide 58: Sitting in the middle of the room was a large, dark crystal ball. Dez made her way over to it, and motioned for Galilei to join her. She obeyed, although she was a little apprehensive about the dark orb. Slide 59: “Now I want you to do what you did downstairs for me, Galilei, but as strong as you possibly can. Alright? Closing your eyes sometimes helps.” Galilei did as she commanded, and Dez began to hum in that same, strange note as before. Slide 60: A buzzing could soon be heard, and Galilei opened her eyes to see the crystal on the table glowing and swirling, exactly the opposite of how it had been before. She was amazed. But what was even more amazing was Dez. Slide 61: Her eyes that had been such a beautiful shade before were now glowing a bright white, as though she was in a trance. The color almost matched the crystal that continued to glow on the table. “Galilei…” she said aloud, although her voice was faint and distant. Slide 62: “Galilei, I’m sorry… But your brother…” Slide 63: “…He’s dead…” Slide 64: **** Slide 65: Einstein lay on the ground, dazed and sleepy. He had no idea where he was, but he didn’t care- all he knew was that he was exhausted. Slide 66: It was quiet where he was, and that was nice. It meant that he could sleep, and that he wouldn’t be woken up. Slide 67: But it was cold where he was… and he found he couldn’t sleep in the cold. There was no other choice than but to get up, to try to find a heat source somewhere. Slide 68: Pulling himself up, he put his hand to his head. He felt horribly faint and weak. He was tempted to lay back down. But that was when he saw the stars. Slide 69: He was sitting in a strange place, a place filled with stars. He didn’t know what he was sitting on, as all that he saw underneath his feet were stars. He decided he wouldn’t question it. The room had gotten warmer, and if that happened because of the stars, then that was okay with him. It meant that he would be able to get some sleep. Slide 70: But then, among the stars, he saw something he didn’t like. He put his face into his hands, hoping it was just another vision, but when he looked back up, it didn’t go away. Slide 71: “What the hell are you?!” Slide 72: “M-m-mom?!” The specter sighed, shaking her head and looking at the ground. “What have you done to your family, Einstein?” Slide 73: “WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO YOUR FAMILY?!?!” The creature wailed, and Einstein turned away, covering his ears. But he was met with only worse. Slide 74: “Look at her. Look at what you did.” Another voice joined the group, and Einstein stared into the face of his father. “Dad!” “Einstein, why?” “No… It was an accident! I didn’t mean to!” Slide 75: The hell was not to end. Turning to his other side he found the face of his beloved older brother. “How could you do it? How could you do this to us?” “Darwin… no, it wasn’t like that!” Slide 76: “You’re lying Einstein. YOU’RE LYING. You killed our sister! You aren’t part of this family!” Galilei’s likeness kept him from leaving the other way. “Now see! See what you did! Just LOOK AT HER!” Slide 77: “Look at what, Galilei?! What the hell am I supposed to look at?!” “HER!” The ghost screamed, gesturing at something Einstein hadn’t noticed before. Slide 78: Bacon’s form lay on the ground, crumbled in a heap, just like it had been on the fateful day she had died. He broke down in tears, on his knees, unable to take it. The room had gotten hotter and hotter, and he couldn’t take how hot it was getting. He was choking on the heat, on the guilt, on everything. Slide 79: He forced himself up, only to be met by the vengeful stares of his parents and siblings. “You can’t blame me for this! I didn’t mean to!” “Bacon…” Mendel murmured. Slide 80: The form had stirred, and was now standing before Einstein, with eyes that were only half open, as though she was the waking dead. “Bacon! No… you have to forgive me! Please! I love you… you’re my family! All of you! I didn’t mean to!” Slide 81: But she didn’t answer. She just started at Einstein. And he felt himself begin to fade away. Slide 82: …And away. **** Slide 83: “What a strange dream…” Einstein said as he woke up in a strange chamber. He was confused, and disoriented, and it didn’t help that he felt like he was in a coffin and it was pitch black. Then he remember Mel, and the potion. He scowled. “So much for not having any more guilt…” Slide 84: He pushed the door of the chamber open. Hm. I don’t’ remember this looking like this… I thought it was glass. It wasn’t something that particularly concerned him though. He figured Mel must have moved him into something more comfortable. Slide 85: It’s dark in here. Must be night. He could hardly see his converse on his feet. He wondered how long he must have been sleeping. It felt like a long time, and his body ached all over. I’ve gotta get Mel… Slide 86: He got up and made his way over the other side of the room, testing his aching legs. God, I feel awful. He looked down at his hands, and noticed how pale they were. I must have gotten sick… I guess I’m okay now, though. Slide 87: But when he got to the mirror, he knew something was terribly, terribly wrong. Slide 88: He had no reflection. Slide 89: “What has she done to me?!” Einstein exclaimed as he stared at the empty mirror. Slide 90: “What’s… happened to me?!” And that’s where I’ll leave you, with Einstein, because he’s awesome. Oh, yeah, the default replacements aren’t mine, I think they’re Enayla’s skin and eyes, recolored by someone else. Anyway, will Asimov continue to be a good father? Will Darwin decide to help his sister? Will Galilei find out what happened to Einstein? And will Einstein find out what Mel did to him? All of this, probably, in the next Mendel update. Until then, I’m Regina, wishing you all happy simming! You do not have the permission to view this presentation. In order to view it, please contact the author of the presentation.
