How To Overcome Your Anxiety And Panic Attacks

PowerPoint Presentation: For someone who has chronic anxiety issues, it may be helpful to schedule regular "breathing breaks" throughout the day. Force yourself to take a couple of minutes to control your breathing and focus your thoughts on something happy. Do this at least once every half hour. This will keep oxygen in your system and reset your focus. Maintaining this activity will create a habit after a while.

PowerPoint Presentation: It is never all in their head! Panic attacks are a true disorder, one which several people suffer from. Help your loved one if they are experiencing a panic attack. Compassion and understanding can go a long way in averting a full blown panic attack. Learn ways to distract your attention when you feel that a panic attack in imminent. Any distraction, whether it is your shoes, a piece of music, or a crossword puzzle, can help. Try several activities until you find one that takes your focus off of the panicky feelings. Engaging your mind can lessen the severity of or prevent an attack. You have already passed through this before. Nothing horrible happened. Relax and think positively to ride it out.

PowerPoint Presentation: As far as managing panic attacks is concerned, there are no failures. There are a number of different techniques and strategies you can keep trying in order to eventually find one that will work for you. Focus on what is really happening during a panic attack. Remind yourself that you are simply experiencing over-stimulation of the nervous system, and that no physical harm is going to occur. By doing this you will remind yourself that you are going to be fine and the panic attack will soon pass, which will help calm you. It may be terrible, and this advice isn't meant to treat it as though it is a game. If you use this way of thinking, though, you will be able to end some of your panicky feelings. Talk to them face to face, which will help you to be more expressive. This will increase the speed at which the panic attack passes.

PowerPoint Presentation: You should try to see a therapist, but you could even speak with one of your friends. A counselor can work with you to determine the cause of your attacks and advise you of the best ways of coping with them. It is hard to cope with panic attacks if you do not have anyone on your side. When you are trying to deal with your panic attacks, it is important that you have people around you to help get through your issues and problems. Friends and loved ones are always there for you. If you become more social you may have less panic attacks. For example, volunteering with children or the elderly can give you an activity that is both relaxing and fun, while reminding you that being around people can be something to look forward to. Both adults and children make me feel great about being alive.

PowerPoint Presentation: Alcoholic beverages are not the answer to fixing your panic attacks. By drinking alcohol even one time while experiencing a panic attack, you are letting yourself become dependent on it, which can have many negative effects on your health. Water is a great option if you feel that you have to drink something. Take the negative energy and focus it on something much more productive. Panic attacks build up a lot of stress. This excess energy should be used to reduce the severity of the attack rather than increase it. Try to do your favorite exercise or clean your house. You will notice your panic attack going away faster if you expend your energy towards something positive.

PowerPoint Presentation: It is important to seek medical advice and treatment if you feel that the panic attacks are overly restricting your quality of life. Breathing techniques are helpful to many sufferers, but you may find that medication, therapy or a combination thereof brings you relief. Consult with your physician to come up with a treatment plan that works for you. Relax through yoga, meditation or simply breathing deeply. Try taking a warm, soothing bath or drinking a cup of warm tea. Don't be afraid to indulge in a cry or ask a loved one for a snuggle. Stick to what works best for you!
