How to Fix Windows Update Error 0x80096004 This Troubleshooter is an automated Windows 8/8.1/10 inbuilt tool which looks for and fixes the common issues with the Windows Update settings. You can follow these steps to launch this tool and check if that helps. • Note: Make sure that you are logged into Windows under an account with the status Administrator • Step 1. First of all open Troubleshooting from Control Panel. To do that right-click at Start button Control Panel View by Large icons click Troubleshooting. • Step 2. When the Troubleshooting window occurs you click View all from the left side listed options. • Step 3. Then you find Windows Update and click it in order to run the corresponding troubleshooter. • Step 4. Now you click Next to let the troubleshooter identify problems. • Step 5.
