The cc bed has to be laid before centering work commences for the roof slab, so that centering supports can be rested on firm bed .Construction of ACRs (Contd…): Construction of ACRs ( Contd …) As Roof level beams are proposed all-round, the verandah beam (and brick masonary over it) may be avoided. Instead sunshade may be cast from the roof level beams in a sloped manner.Construction of ACRs (Contd…): Construction of ACRs ( Contd …) [The sloped sunshade must extend upto the originally proposed edge. This Type of sunshade may be provided in the near side ( continuosly ) over Windows. This arrangement helps in proper drainage of roof water away From the masonary ]Construction of ACRs (Contd…): Construction of ACRs ( Contd …) Continuous ventilation may be provided between lintel level and roof level on the verandah side by means of honey combed brick wall/other suitable structures like RCC jollies/ wired iron frames. The continuous ventilation may also be provided at the rear side(opp . Verandah side)taking care to provide it at suitable level/ height so that rain water does not get in to the class room.Construction of ACRs (Contd…): Construction of ACRs ( Contd …) Iron centering (with iron panels & supports) so that proper finish is obtained , when the roof slab is cast . No ceiling plastering is allowed . Instead slab bottoms may be finished with wall care cement putty . [Vinyl sheet ceiling may be explored]Construction of ACRs (Contd…): Construction of ACRs ( Contd …) Wooden doors and windows may be avoided. Provide iron doors and windows in all areas except in coastal areas (sea coast< 10 km) Provide two doors and windows for each ACR, as it would provide emergency exits during fire. This arrangement also facilitates conduct of more than one class in the same class room .Construction of ACRs (Contd…): Construction of ACRs ( Contd …) Construction of all-round parapet walls on roof slabs is to be avoided as it leads to stagnation of pool of water over roof slabs. This will ultimately cause damage roof slab thus drastically reducing the lifespan of the structure. For elevation purposes, front side parapet wall may be allowed. Minor modifications may be done to staircase to provide one toilet under mid landing slab at absolutely minimum cost.Construction of ACRs (Contd…): Construction of ACRs ( Contd …) The height of superstructure is 3.30m (Not 3.65m provided in the design) Internal walls be constructed in 100 mm thick and external walls be constructed in 230 mm thick It is strongly recommended to use good quality Fly ash bricks – 6” thick for external walls and 4” thick for internal walls Options are being explored to use light weight (AAC) bricks for masonary if it leads to avoiding plasteringConstruction of ACRs (Contd…): Construction of ACRs ( Contd …) Green emulsion finishing painting has to be done for green writing boardsConstruction of ACRs (Contd…): Construction of ACRs ( Contd …) Special Instructions for foundations In Hard rock/Sheet rock/ Laterite rock NO excavation of earth work for foundations is necessary. Instead provide 20 mm anchor bars to a depth of 1.0 m in 32 mm drilled holes and fixed with LOCKSET. The anchor bars be provided @ 1.0 mt . and extended up to top of Column footings for effective development of bond. For Pile foundations, the piles may be drilled such that the pile cap is perpendicular to the rear side and verandah side walls (i.e., walls having doors and windows) so as to avoid dummy piles.Construction of Toilets: Construction of Toilets It is must to provide ventilation in w/c on all sides (from the neck level/ 4’ level) with honey combed brick masonary / Plain openings. Jollies often obstruct free air flow Tiles may be provided for easier maintenance with savings by utilizing adjoining compound wall or class room wall etc Toilet/ urinal blocks may be constructed between the gap of two adjacent class rooms or under a stair case wherever feasible Connection pipes must be fixed well below natural ground level to avoid damageConstruction of Ramps: Construction of Ramps Explore the possibility of constructing solid ramps if it results in savings in real terms (in terms of time or money) Proper approach has to be given at the start of the ramp. That is it has to be at zero level at the beginning. Top surface must be roughened with grooving for proper grip. Height of hand railing must be 1.50 to 2.0 ft. only Ramp slope must be 1:10 to 1:12. If this slope can not be obtained, do not construct ramp.Construction of Compound Walls: Construction of Compound Walls Running meter cost must not exceed Rs. 2000. Additional amounts may be mobilized from GP/ Mandal / Muncilapl / ZP funds or from community contributions Expansion joints may be provided @ every 25-30 m stretch by constructing double columns. Honey combing may be provided in the walls to let air flow so that over turning moments are avoided.PowerPoint Presentation: Than’Q Any ??? Please!
