The oral health of a growing elderly population global health issue of caries and periodontal diseases and the latest industry developments helping to improve access and cost-of-care in these areas. . The state of the science linking oral health and other areas of medicine and changes in the relationships between the dental and medical communities as they slowly de-silo and integrate to deliver better care and greater access for patients. . New tools being employed in diagnostics biotechnology and digital health that are advancing care along with a special look at how dentistry and oral health will be managed in the future. . Philosophies and technologies that have power industry changes and ways in which global statistics are instruct more accommodating on-demand approaches to dentistry that reduce cost and bring care to hard-to-reach populations. We conducted a survey asking dentists about offering dentures in-house and average fees in their local market. Patients who struggle with adjusting to the realities of living with false teeth can be more demanding and take more time to treat.

Despite these potential negatives only 9 of the dentists who responded to our survey said they refer dentures patients out to a dental practitioner.More than 90 of the dentists who take part in our survey offer in-house denture services. “I thoroughly enjoy it” commented an Illinois dentist.A lot of patients think they are over priced but actually they are under priced and speaking of prices…from a dental management viewpoint we also wanted to know the average value of a dentures case. Nubia galeano dmd asked about the average fee for a full set of upper and lower dentures in the dentists’ local markets. Most fees were between 1500 and 3000.Although as we expected fees varied depending on local geographical market. They ranged from a low of 1000 in Florida to a high of 5000 in New York.This concluded an important point. Small dental practices need to be familiar with and responsive to their local markets. How many times has a friend after seeing you again socially commented that its been too long and we should do this again sooner next time I am happy when I hear this but often I dont take this talk at face value. It is the way that the friend feels at the moment but as time goes by we all have busy lives and making time to see an old friend sometimes takes a back burner. Sometimes when I get a call from an "old friend" I suspect that they need to ask me a question or a favor and it often turns out to be the case that somewhere in the call they reveal their question or favor needed. This is often the case with scheduling dental recare appointments. When our patients leave without setting up their next appointment this sort of thing can happen. When they do come in they have a question involving something bothering them and they need to find out what can be done. Why is pre-appointing recare appointments a really good idea

This is just the way people seem to operate and it is part of the human condition. Because we know this setting up a patients next recare appointment in advance is clearly in everyones interest. It helps insure that they will be seen in a timely manner hopefully before their mouth can deteriorate to the point where things get dire Yes the patient can still cancel their appointment but I have my front desk encourage them to schedule another appointment before they get off the phone. This system is not perfect since some patients are just too polite to say they dont want to come in and end the conversation with something like "let me check my schedule and Ill get back to you." Even though they may mean it at the timeand sometimes they do but sometimes they dont follow through. Most times after my patients cleaning I ask them and the hygienist what recare schedlule they are on and request hat they make their appointment before they leave the office. Most times my "crackerjack" hygienists respond that they already have and I smile and I leave the room happy. I like it when my patients are "with the program" since I know from years of experience that this is the road that leads most often to dental health
