slide 1: Do You Know Why E Waste Data
Destruction Is Becoming So Big
Do you know why e-waste data destruction is becoming so big It is
primarily because of the many problems that it poses not just to the
developed world but to the developing countries as well. There is a steep
rise in the demand for the services of electronic recycling providers because
people are waking up to the dangers of e-waste and the way we are
discarding them or getting rid of them.
Do you know that the USA discards 30 million computers every year This
is a very staggering number but it is nothing as compared to hundred million
phones that are disposed of in Europe annually.
According to an estimate by the Environmental Protection Agency only 15
to 20 of e-waste is currently being recycled and the rest of it is simply going
to landfills or incinerators or to developing countries far away from our home.
slide 2: Needless to mention we all know that electronic waste contains several
hazardous chemicals and compounds and also some valuable and scarce
materials. Do you know that you can easily find up to 60 elements in complex
electronic equipment According to an independent study alone in the US
an estimated 70 of heavy metals can be found in discarded electronics that
are dumped in our landfills.
These are just some of the concerns that the rise in e-waste pile-up is
causing at the moment. We need solid policies and rules when it comes to
e-waste data destruction. Our electronic recycling providers are going to
need all the support and assistance they can get both from our government
and the consumer.
