What do snowshoes look like?:

What do snowshoes look like? Traditional snowshoes are usually made of wood. They have thick rawhide weaved through the middle, with leather bindings to hold you foot. Newer snowshoe models are made of plastic or light metal. They have plastic bindings, and leather or strong fabric where you would find webbing would be on a traditional snowshoe.

Who invented the Snowshoe?:

Who invented the Snowshoe? The traditional snowshoes originates from the North American indigenous people; Huron, C ree, and Far North tribes. Almost every American Indigenous tribe developed its own shape of snowshoe.

Where were snowshoes invented?:

Where were snowshoes invented? Snowshoes were invented in North America (Canada). The oldest snowshoes was found in central Asia, believed to be around 300 B.C.!

What were snowshoes originally used for?:

What were snowshoes originally used for? Snowshoes were originally used for hunters and trappers who need to get around in deep snow. People also used them for moving to location to location in winter.

What are snowshoes used for today?:

What are snowshoes used for today? Snowshoes are mainly used for recreational winter activities such as hikers, walkers, and people who need to be able to get around areas with motorized vehicles in deep snow. They are also a must for forest rangers.

How would life have been different without Snowshoes?:

How would life have been different without Snowshoes? It would be much harder for the aboriginal to hunt during winter, or travel. For us not many people could continue with sports suck as hiking, or taking daily walks. Not many people would even go outside because of nothing to do. Some people could even loose their job from making snowshoes. :’(
