What does it mean to be “ephemeral”PowerPoint Presentation: The transience of life has been a continued subject for artists of the fifteenth century to contemporary times and has inspired same artists to creatively incorporate its theme in their artworks. Artists have gone on to utilize the idea to amplify the impact of whatever social or political message they are seeking to explore and share with the public. Transience, impermanence, the emphasis on the process and experience rather than the final results are all ephemeral qualities that can be seen in various artworks throughout time.Andy Goldsworthy Ephemeral Artist: Andy Goldsworthy Ephemeral ArtistDandelion Line : Dandelion LineAutumn Cherry Leaves: Autumn Cherry LeavesIcicle Star joined with saliva: Icicle Star joined with salivaRowan Leaves & Hole: Rowan Leaves & HolePowerPoint Presentation: "Movement, change, light, growth and decay are the lifeblood of nature, the energies that I try to tap through my work. I need the shock of touch, the resistance of place, materials and weather, the earth as my source. Nature is in a state of change and that change is the key to understanding. I want my art to be sensitive and alert to changes in material, season and weather. Each work grows, stays, decays. Process and decay are implicit. Transience in my work reflects what I find in nature."Krzysztof Wodiczko Ephemeral Artist: Krzysztof Wodiczko Ephemeral ArtistPowerPoint Presentation: "My work reveals the contradiction of the environment and the events actually taking place there. It is to do with politics of space and the ideology of architecture. City centers are political art galleries."Tibetan Monks: Sand Mandalas: Tibetan Monks: Sand MandalasTibetan Buddhist monks: Tibetan Buddhist monks The ephemeral art theme has also been used in religious rituals as seen with the Tibetan Buddhist monks. These detailed and beautiful mandalas are made up of sand and are used to symbolize the fully enlightened mind of the Buddha. Uses of this particular type of mandala are strictly used in rituals and dates back to the sixth century B.C. in IndiaPowerPoint Presentation: The creation of these mandalas start with drawing the outline of the mandala, which then is proceeded by chanting and the application of colored sand with a long metal funnel called Chakpu. After it is constructed it is utilized in a ceremony which consists mainly of meditationPowerPoint Presentation: After the meditation is over, the mandala is ceremonially swept away and collected. this act of sweeping and erasing its existence pays tribute to the Buddha’s teachings of non- attachment to the physical world. Since every mandala is original and unique a viewer gets only a brief chance to see the piece before it is destroyed and never seen again.Nicole Dextras Ephemeral Artist: Nicole Dextras Ephemeral ArtistBanksy ephemeral artist: Banksy ephemeral artistWalter de Maria : Walter de Maria You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
