Nippon and Nihon are written in Japanese using the “ Kanji 日本 ”. Japan is referred to as the “Land Of The Rising Sun". Japanese people refer to themselves as Nihonjin and they call their language Nihongo. Japan is an archipelago of 6,852 islands.HISTORY: HISTORY Monarchy: According to mythology, Japan's first Emperor was Jimmu. The emperors have reigned for more than 1500 years. The power of the emperors was limited or purely symbolic. Meji Restoration of 1868. In 1989,Emperor Akihito became Japan's 125th emperor.Slide 5: Samurai: The samurai (or bushi) were the members of the military class, the Japanese warriors. Samurai employed a range of weapons. Samurai were supposed to lead their lives according to the ethic code of bushido ("the way of the warrior"). Strongly Confucian in nature.CLIMATE: CLIMATE Spring (March-May) It is the best time to be in Japan. The temperatures are warm but not hot, there's not too much rain. Summer (June –August) Starts with a dreary rainy season in June and turns into a steam bath in July-August. The temperature heading as high as 40°C. It is the worst possible time to visit Japan. Autumn (September –November) Temperatures become more tolerable. Colorful leaves (koyo) are to the Japanese autumn what cherry blossoms are to spring.
