Ushuaia Jail was created in 1896 when the fist convicts (guilty of serious crimes, many for lifetime or long sentences ) were sent here, the idea was to colonize with them The motto was Work, Silence, Order and Discipline The system was bassed on work for lifetime with little salary Thank to the convicts a railway was built in 1910 and became the southernmost railway in the world The prisom was closed in 1947
