Legend says that when the husband of Queen Victoria died in 1861, orders were that all homes prints black flags on the doors of their homes. A good Irish, however, never lose the opportunity to undo the British. And so, at the funeral of Prince Albert, the doors of homes in Dublin were all painted colorful , initiating a trend that never went away.

If ever captured by a human, the Leprechaun has the magical power to grant three wishes in exchange for their release. The Leprechauns are no taller than a small child, with a beard and hat.
