McCloud (http://stephendmccloud.wordpress.com/) The poem is inspired by one of the "California Leopards" named Bear who lived his last years at the Exotic Feline Rescue Center after being rescued from a so-called sanctuary. Out of the eight rescued leopards, "Bear, a large black leopard, was the worst. He was totally non-responsive, dehydrated, and near death. EFRC's veteranarian evaluated him and initiated immediate around-the-clock care. For several days he was given liters of IV fluids, administered without anesthesia - he was too weak to care." - from "Saving The Big Cats: The Exotic Feline Rescue Center" by Stephen D.
