The story is really for anyone who wants to know more about things that I enjoy, or are interested in learning about some cool sites. However due to the nature of my story, my target audience will have to know a bit of background knowledge concerning technology. Because of this, age wise, the lower and upper spectrum of society would likely not understand or enjoy the story. So my adjusted audience is people with access to computers ages 13 through 80. My story is all about something that I do and enjoy on a daily basis . So the purpose of my story is to convey some of the excitement and enjoyment that I get from the internet. Growing up I was moved around a lot. :

I went from homeschooling, to a public school in Oregon then, after a transcontinental move, I finally finished my primary school education in New York.:

I was able to finish middle school and my first two years of high school before our next move.:

Across the continental US we went once again, destination: California.:

Then in my most recent move, we headed north to an obscure town where it seems everyone is merely passing through. :

I can fondly remember playing old games in black and orange on an ancient Apple II-e at a very young age.:

It seems like I have always been browsing through the net, reading blogs, checking out pod casts and making my way through many interesting forums.:

Along the way, I have become a part of many different online communities. Some of these communities are centered on gamming; some are dedicated to furthering the general population’s knowledge, and others exist for the sole purpose of humor. :

All of these online community’s serve to entertain, and have helped me to never feel bored throughout my life.:

However; unlike Facebook or You Tube, many of the sites I visit and find to be the most enjoyable, are not considered to be a part of the mainstream internet.:

Having been around for quite some time the site has developed into a very tight-knit community and has gained a specific type of humor; the Internet meme. :

From these little jokes, I have been able to gain a brighter outlook on life, and have developed my own sense of humor and insight into many different political and social forms of satire. :

Using many different technological innovations (for a site of its kind) Kong creates a sense of community between the game players.:

The most notable way that they do this is the chat rooms that they have incorporated into every game page.:

For me this means I can discuss the game I am playing, find out interesting things about the game. And get suggestions for other games I might like. All well enjoying a casual conversation with someone I do not even know.:

I personally have spent hours collaborating with others to find the best way to beat a game, so that I can receive my digital crest of achievement. This gives the community a common goal and works surprisingly well.:

Instructables.com appeals to the natural desire to improve ourselves and to learn new, exciting, and useful things.:

I stumbled across this site after reading my one of my favorite books, called Little Brother by Cory Doctorow.:

In short the book is about a high school kid who is extremely tech savvy and uses his skills to fight an incredible injustice that was imposed upon him by the government he thought was in place to protect him.:

By applying many different bits of knowledge with a touch of finesse, the main character is able to take on his unjust government and promote a total reform.:

Given my upbringing I was able to relate myself to the book, and so I decided to look into the author. It turned out that for all the neat little tricks described in the book the author had written an Instructable, so that I was able to learn exactly how to pull them off. :

Needless to say I had to wander around the site. I was surprised to find that there was a wealth of information very little of which was irreverent or uninteresting.:

This coupled with the ability to comment on articles and ask the writer a question about their works has made a community of individuals with something in common, the desire to know.:
