Monarch’s power is hereditary
Hereditary – passed down through the family
Example: Saudi Arabia

Dictatorship :
Dictatorship The government is under the control of one person
Takes power by force rather than inheriting power
Often were members of the military or police
No limits on power
Examples:
Adolf Hitler - Nazi Germany
Saddam Hussein – Iraq
Democracy :
Democracy Power is shared by all of the people; “government by the people”

Representative (U.S)
Very rarely a “pure” democracy
We elect representatives
Example: United States
Communist States :
Communist States All property is publicly owned
Each person paid based on their need, not their abilities
All working for the good of the overall country
Anarchy :
Anarchy No government; often occurs after war.
Anarchy - Greek for “without ruler”
