Presentation Description

The IBM PC 5150 was launched in August 1981, some 30 years ago. But it seems that its future is behind it. Do PCs still have a role to play today, are they a dying breed?

For me, these PCs should have been retired ages ago. After 30 years, they still need an operating system (Windows, etc,) which is far too slow. Processors get quicker, memory gets bigger but OS and software are more bloated than ever, so the machine always looses the race and is always too slow. We need simple machines to go on the net, with no operating software: instant start essential. Internet Service Providers need to get their act together and access much faster and better. Tablets are kind of notebooks, laptops or personal devices, but none of these. Digital technology always lags behind its potential and is always behind the times. Disappointing!
