A Few Reasons For Procrastinating:

A Few Reasons For Procrastinating Lacking Ability Fear of Failing Perfectionist Lacking Confidence Not Happy With Accomplishments Uncertain About Goals Unrealistic About Time Feeling Overwhelmed by Pressure Fear of Success

Ways To Eliminate Procrastination:

Find The Direction You Need To Go – Write down what you need to do and why you are avoiding doing it. Then find ways to get yourself back on track when you find yourself off track. Always think about the task you need to complete and your reward you will receive when completing your task. Thinking and wanting your reward will help you overcome wanting to procrastinate. Get On Task – It’s not hard to get overwhelmed by the big picture. Breakdown your task into smaller tasks so that they are less overwhelming. Start your smaller tasks as soon as possible and work on them everyday. If it is hard to focus for a long period of time try smaller amounts of time. Do the easier tasks first to help you with completing your goals and seeing the end product. Ways To Eliminate Procrastination

Ways To Eliminate Procrastination Cont.:

Know What You Are Thinking And How You Feel – You have to confront your fears and the task at hand. If you do not, then it will allow the belief to cause you to procrastinate. You need to tell yourself the positive things that will come out of the task instead of dwelling on the negative things that could go wrong. Positive thoughts will improve your attitude. Strengthen Your Tolerance To Negative Feelings – When you follow through on your goal you will be able to deal with anxiety and stress a lot better. You will feel less overwhelmed and more confident. This will help you procrastinate less. Ways To Eliminate Procrastination Cont.

Ways To Eliminate Procrastination Cont.:

Take Control Over Yourself – When you go out of your comfort zone you will succeed. Do not complain about what you have to do. Complaining does not make you succeed it will only bring you down. Focus on the success, what you have to do and what positive things that have come from it. Ways To Eliminate Procrastination Cont.

Good Time Management Skills:

Don’t Be A Perfectionist – everything does not have to be perfect to do a good job at getting something done. Learn To Say “No” – If you have plans and are asked to do something else be realistic. Can you really do everything? Sometimes you have to say no and not overwhelm yourself with to much. Learn To Prioritize – What is more important? What needs done first? What arrangements were made first? Make these assessments. Get a Calendar – Electronic or pocket calendars will help you see what time is filled and open. This allows you to be able to limit your planning so you do not have to much on your plate Good Time Management Skills

One Of Joe’s Steps With Time Management And Procrastination:

“One thing I’ve noticed that helps me overcome procrastination and the first step in starting to manage my time is to make a “to do list”. This is huge for me. It can help me by calming me down and reducing stress by getting all of those upcoming tasks I needed to do, out of my head on to paper. When I do the physical act of writing it’s kind of like I’m committing myself to doing it and it actually makes them real and I can make a plan on where to start. I can see what I need to get done and I do it. Also, it’s like a little reward and makes you feel good every time you cross something off. It gives you a sense of accomplishment, especially when you have gone thru and finished the lists.” One Of Joe’s Steps With Time Management And Procrastination
