A Virtual Keyboard is a projection keyboard that is projected and touched on any surface. What can you do with a Virtual Keyboard? : What can you do with a Virtual Keyboard? Virtual Keyboard a full-size keyboard onto any flat surface. Mobile device users can actually type normally on a virtual Keyboards and handwriting recognition software. How does the Virtual Keyboard Work? : How does the Virtual Keyboard Work? The keyboard watches finger movements and translates them into keystrokes in the device. A system called the P-ISM will combine the virtual technology with a small video project Technical Terms : Technical Terms Projection Module – A template is created of the desired interface and is projected onto the adjacent interface surface. This template is produced by illuminating a specially designed highly efficient holographic optical element with a red diode laser. Micro-illumination Module – An infa-red plane of light is generated just above, and parallel to the interface surface. This light is invisible to the user and hovers a few millimeters above the surface. Sensor Module – Reflected light from user interactions with the interface surface is passed through an infa-red filter and imaged onto a CMOS image sensor in the sensor module. Slide 10: Technology How does it work? Reasons to use the Virtual Keyboard. : Reasons to use the Virtual Keyboard. It takes up less desk space than a conventional keyboard. When connected to your handheld computer it is more convenient to carry around than your laptop. You could use it with your desktop, laptop or handheld computer. Uses of Virtual Keyboards : Uses of Virtual Keyboards By Professionals By Students To take notes during a business meeting To compose a memo to employees while traveling to work on the train To do everyday work at your desk without taking up so much valuable space. To take notes while in class (no one will hear your keying) To work on a paper while in the library To do homework while you are on break at work What is Gesture? : What is Gesture? A movement of a limb or the body as an expression of thought or feeling. Gesture recognition is a topic in computer science and language technology with the goal of interpreting human gestures via mathematical algorithms -- Mood, emotion : Mood, emotion Mood and emotion are expressed by body language Facial expressions Tone of voice Allows computers to interact with human beings in a more natural way Human Computer Interface Using Gesture : Human Computer Interface Using Gesture Replace mouse and keyboard Pointing gesturesNavigate in a virtual environment Pick up and manipulate virtual objects Interact with a 3D world No physical contact with computer Communicate at a distance Slide 16: A C F Virtual reality : Virtual reality A computer generated immersive (or wide field),multi sensory Information program which tracks a user in realtime. Types of VR : Types of VR Immersive Augmented Text-based Desktop (Window on a World) Video Mapping Virtual Reality : Virtual Reality Touch Screen : Touch Screen Touch Screen : Touch Screen A touch screen is an input device that allows users to operate a PC by simply touching the display screen. The display screen has a sensitive glass overlay placed on it and we could give the desired input by touching it. A touch screen is based on CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) technology, that accepts direct onscreen input. Types : Types Single Touch Screen Multi Touch Screen Dual Touch Screen Dual Touch Screen : Dual Touch Screen Dual-touch screen : Dual-touch screen A dual-touch screen is a computer display setup which utilizes two screens - either or both of which could be touch-capable - in order to display both elements of the computer's graphical user interface and virtualized implementations of common input devices, including virtual keyboards TrackIR : TrackIR TrackIR is an optical motion tracking game controller for Microsoft Windows, created by NaturalPoint Inc. that tracks head motions with up to six degrees of freedom (6DOF) in later models, Head position and orientation are measured by a purpose-built video camera, mounted on top of the user's monitor, TrackIR Camera : TrackIR Camera 3D Interaction : 3D Interaction In computing, 3D interaction is a form of Human-machine interaction where users are able to move and perform interaction in 3D space. Both human and machine process information where the physical position of elements in the 3D space is relevant. 3D user interfaces : 3D user interfaces User interfaces are the means for communication between users and systems. 3D interfaces include media for 3D representation of system state, and media for 3D user input or manipulation. Using 3D representations is not enough to create 3D interaction. Advantge : Advantge Virtual input devices are more efficient than conventional input devices When connected to your handheld computer it is more convenient to carry around than your laptop. You could use it with your desktop, laptop or handheld computer. It takes up less desk space than a conventional keyboard. Conclusion : Conclusion In the near future all the Input devices changed from conventional to virtual devices Future application of Virtul Devices is limitless References : References www.
