In loving memory ofMadam ChanEspecially dedicated to Uncle Toby and Family, and Pilgrim Covenant Church, her family-in-Christ. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

Slide 2:

Madam Chanborn AD 1916, returned to be with Christ Jesus her Lord on 6 Feb 2009, ADat the age of 93 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Slide 3:

Uncle Toby’s mother-in-law, Madam Chan, was born in China. She married and lived with her husband in Malaysia for many years. When her husband passed away, about 13 years ago (1996), she came to Singapore to stay with Uncle Toby and family. They took care of her sacrificially. By God’s mercies and providence, about 10 years ago, she heard the Gospel and trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour and Lord. The Lord Jesus Christ became very precious to her soul each day. Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.

Slide 4:

God in His great mercies, preserved her in the faith through the years. On 7 December 2008, she was baptised in Uncle Toby’s home and became a member of Pilgrim Covenant Church (PCC), Singapore. She said that was the happiest day of her life! She was very happy that many brethren went to welcome her to be a member of the church. My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass. But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.

Slide 5:

She expressed great joy to be a part of the Church of Christ. Every morning she prayed for Uncle Toby’s family, and her brothers and sisters in Christ in PCC, many of whom she has not met. She committed all to God, trusting that He will take care of them. I think it meant a lot to her to be a member of our church, to be a part of the family of God, and she sincerely appreciated and cherished our church. God in His faithfulness enabled some of our brethren to visit and minister to her in many wonderful ways, bringing her great joy and consolations. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.

Slide 6:

She was wheelchair bound for 26 years. Towards the last days of her life, her health weakened and she was constantly in pain. God gave her reliefs every now and then through pain killers. Despite whatever pain or sufferings, she was grateful to God and found peace in Him. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. Psalm 73:26 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. 1:5 Her prayers and thanksgiving every morning was “Thank you, Heavenly Father, and Lord Jesus Christ, for giving your precious blood to cleanse me of my sins. I am a sinner.”

Slide 7:

John 1125 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? 27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world. She trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Saviour and Lord wholeheartedly, and have the comfort and assurance of being with Him one day in glory.

Slide 8:

On 6 February 2009, she was called home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, Who loved her and gave His life for her. She is now at a far better place where there is no more pain, suffering or tears. She is in Heaven, in the presence of God and her beloved Lord Jesus Christ, to worship God and enjoy His love and fellowship for all eternity. For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Job 19:25-26 我知道我的救赎主活着,末了必站立在地上。

Slide 9:

Like Madam Chan, it is the blessed hope of all who truly trusted in Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord that their sins are forgiven through the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross for them, and they have eternal life in Christ when they leave this world. Death is a door to glory. Have you trusted in Jesus as your personal Saviour and Lord? Do you have the assurance of sins forgiven and eternal life in Jesus Christ? If you do not, don’t delay. Today is the day of salvation! Call upon the Lord Jesus Christ and He will save you. Psalm 116 15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. 16 O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds. 17 I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.
