Smith with the objective of making barrier free addiction treatment and well-being issues available across communities. Today that vision has grown and the organization is working with a number of issues and among a variety of groups, ranging in age, gender, and class to promote health, child and adolescent rights, and drug-free lifestyle

ARPAN( Association of Recovering Peer Action Network) :ARPAN( Association of Recovering Peer Action Network) ARPAN is a Nada India supported project and it concerns the development of peer led treatment facilities for people with drug and alcohol problem by networking for reducing risk-taking behaviour related to drug abuse and HIV/AIDS among drug users.
This project also aims to develop a quality improvement network of peer led treatment facilities to improve the care of service users.
This network is of a major strategic significance because it provides a platform for the first time to bring more than nine peer led rehabilitation facilities together in a systematic way to discuss and improve the quality of the care they provide

Coming together for common cause… :Coming together for common cause…
Gaps… :Gaps… A gap between the streets or ‘natural settings’ associated with drug use or the outreach worker and the threshold of the drug treatment program where the drug user is expected to arrive committed, ready or interested in quitting drugs
Limited reach… :Limited reach… Drug treatment that is limited to abstinence and acceptance of the addict identity has excluded the majority of drug users who are not ready or interested in quitting drugs or taking on this identity or disease.
Change is a process.. :Change is a process.. I have a problem’ or ‘I think I should quit’ or ‘I have to do something about this…
Mixed feeling of ambivalence to commitment for treatment is long journey… and relapses are part of it..
Treatment readiness.. :Treatment readiness.. “Treatment readiness” is an approach that recognizes the possibility of engaging drug users in drug treatment even before they are committed to abstinence.
Auricular acupuncture :Auricular acupuncture With the use of auricular acupuncture, for example, a spectrum of drug users can be welcomed into the change process within drug treatment programs, primary care services, or in drop-in centers within the neighborhoods where drug users live.
Acupuncture fills the gaps that exists… :Acupuncture fills the gaps that exists… It is physically supportive, predictable, non judgmental and validating experiences.
A “barrier free” treatment during transition phase, means client may come into the clinic for treatment regardless of how they feel that day, without the fear of being judged or of being asked to become cognitively engaged in conversation about how they are doing.
What is NADA Protocol ? :What is NADA Protocol ? The acupuncture needles points on the ear that have been identified in the NADA Protocol are sympathetic, shen-men, kidney, liver and lung.
The sterilized needles are inserted in these points for forty five minutes
Treatment goal is simple and realistic… :Treatment goal is simple and realistic… We want the client feel better.
The goal is not to make the client well.
To stop their chronic drug use they need to come to treatment. The reason they come to treatment is that they feel better without using drugs.
Counseling & Ear Acupuncture :Counseling & Ear Acupuncture Acupuncture is a non-verbal process.
The treatment will be just as helpful if the client lies or ashamed to speak about certain issues.
2.Needy, fearful clients can be engaged in treatment before they can tolerate a bonding relationship with staff.
3.Clients with low self-esteem and lack of hope can begin their treatment participation at a realistic level.
4.Clients who are also trauma victims will be able to participate in treatment even though they are fearful of interpersonal relations
Facing the challenges… :Facing the challenges… Clients can be treated before assessment and diagnosis are completed so that the client can be calm and cooperative enough for a useful diagnosis to be made.
Confrontation about drug use is not necessary because a client can be helped even while they are in denial about the need for treatment.
Developing trust between the therapist and client is much easier.
The client can relax without losing control.
Indeed, the whole program can relax without losing control.
