What is deforestation?:

What is deforestation? What is deforestation? Deforestation is when humans remove or clear large areas of forest lands and related ecosystems for non-forest use. These include clearing for farming purposes, ranching and urban use. In these cases, trees are never re-planted. Since the industrial age, about half of world's original forests have been destroyed and millions of animals and living things have been endangered. Despite the improvements in education, information and general awareness of the importance of forests, deforestation has not reduced much, and there are still many more communities and individuals who still destroy forest lands for personal gains. cutting down trees for farming purposes

Causes of deforestation: :

Causes of deforestation: Agricultural Activities:  As earlier mentioned in the overview, agricultural activities are one of the major factors affecting deforestation. Due to overgrowing demand for food products, huge amount of tress are fell down to grow crops and for cattle gazing .

Effects of deforestation.:

Effects of deforestation . Heavy soil erosion .

Environmental and economical impact.:

Environmental and economical impact . Deforestation also drives climate change. Forest soils are moist, but without protection from sun-blocking tree cover, they quickly dry out. Trees also help perpetuate the  water cycle  by returning water vapor to the atmosphere. Without trees to fill these roles, many former forest lands can quickly become barren deserts.

Negative effects::

Negative effects: Relocation of wild life to urban areas – Many wild animals have started relocating to urban areas as a result of massive deforestation. There have been many cases of various wild animals like snakes, bats etc causing accidents in urban areas. Many times wild animals get killed in an effort to capture them. There have been instances of carnivorous predators like lions, tigers and wolfs preying on humans in villages surrounded by forests.

Global Warming.:

Global Warming. Global warming  – The trees absorb the harmful carbon dioxide and release the life sustaining oxygen, thus acting as natural friends of humans. Deforestation increases the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere leading to global warming due to green house effect.

Continue…… Extinction of flora and fauna  – Destruction of the forests leads to a tragic loss of biodiversity. Millions of plants and animal species are on the verge of extinction due to deforestation. Countries with tropical forests suffer the greatest causalities due to deforestation.

Desertification Desertification  – Deforestation is one of the causes behind the conversion of many fertile tracts of land to deserts. This phenomenon is known as desertification. When mountain forest faces desertion, watersheds are degraded and this leads to the loss of sustained water supplies for lowland communities.

Ways to control deforestation.:

Ways to control deforestation . So what can you do about deforestation? One easy way to combat deforestation is to plant a tree. But you can take it one step further by making sure the choices you make at home, at the store, at work, and on the menu don’t contribute to the problem. Here’s what you can do about deforestation.

3.Eat vegetarian meals as often as possible. :

3.Eat vegetarian meals as often as possible. People are helping out in other ways as well.  Communities have been recycling paper, wood products and plastic.  Sometimes people go paperless for a period time, too.  Also, eating vegetarian meals as often as possible can help out with the problem of deforestation.  Some communities and groups are maintaining to keeping their forest healthy.  As well as programs have taught local farmers how to maximize their land that they have instead clearing for additional land.

4.Take Action for a Deforestation-Free Future :

4.Take Action for a Deforestation-Free Future If you’re ready to join the movement for a deforestation-free future, here’s how you can start: Make sure that the forest-derived products you buy are made from 100 percent post-consumer content materials. Make informed food choices. Eating a plant-based diet or  reducing your consumption of animal products  like meat and dairy can help save forests. Buy from companies that have a commitment to reducing deforestation through forest-friendly policies. If you are buying products made from virgin forest fiber, make sure that it bears a seal from a credible forestry certification system, like the  Forest Stewardship Council . Educate your friends, family, and community about how our everyday actions can impact forests around the world.

5.Promoting Sustainable Choices :

5.Promoting Sustainable Choices You can make a difference in the fight to save forests by making informed daily choices. By using less stuff, eating  sustainable food , and choosing recycled or  certified sustainable  wood products, we can all be part of the movement towards zero deforestation. Using your voice to speak for forests matters, too. When people join together and demand forest conservation, companies and governments have to listen .

CONCLUSION.  Deforestation has become a huge concern in today's life as there has been a rise in the decline of forests. This has become a threat to the world and it has been seen that rates of decline in the forests are increasing at a rapid rate. This has led the planet to warm up and leading to high temperatures. This cycle would continue for the following years to come unless necessary steps are taken to prevent deforestation. Deforestation has caused fewer trees to grow. It has also gone a long way in eliminating valuable ecosystems in the planet .

If major steps towards afforestation are not taken, then even the great adaptability of human beings may not be enough to cope up with the harsh climate of the future. Deforestation does have solutions. It's just that the people must step forward. The safe keeping of our precious planet lies with each and every member of its human population. We are the ones accountable for our actions even though it is ourselves we are accountable too.
