NATA – what you need to know NATA : National Aptitude Test in Architecture National stage exam for admission to undergraduate courses in Architecture (B. Arch) NATA is contained on National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA) which is a body of Council of Architecture, New Delhi. NATA is without doubt the most significant and mandatory exam for architecture aspirants.

The Candidates should have passed class 12th with Mathematics as a subject or done diploma from a recognised institute/university/board with at least 50% aggregate marks in 12th/diploma. OR The Candidates with International Baccalaureate Diploma having 50% aggregate marks and Maths as a subject can also apply.

It can be applied by taking out a demand draft of Rs.800 in favour of ‘Council of Architecture ’, payable at New Delhi . Once the Demand draft is ready you can register in any of the test centers in India. Test centers are nothing but schools of architecture recognized all over India. Upon filling the online form, you get the receipt cum appointment voucher from the centre.

Std. X or equivalent exam marklist – attested copy One recent passport size colour photograph , to be pasted on the NATA Entrance Exam 2011 Registration Form. Any valid document of identification bearing photograph and signature of the candidate – attested copy Test fees in the form of demand draft in favour of ‘Council of Architecture’ payable at New Delhi. A valid email address.

While applying you will have to choose a test date. It is purely allotted based on first come - first serve basis. If you apply earlier you could get the desired date.

The Test can be written on any day as the applicant wishes. The Test Period is from April 1 st – September 25 th . It is suggested to apply sooner because the appointments get filled up soon. A Person can apply at anytime during this period.

NATA Test is generally written in the test centre which is nothing but recognized schools of architecture all over india . For the list of the Architectural colleges in India, check out : http://www.nata.in/publicsc/testcenters.aspx

After a period of 3 days , you can check the scores at this following address : http://www.nata.in/PublicSC/ And you will receive a courier of your scorecard within the next 7 days . The minimum mark for passing is 90 out of 200 .

You have to prepare on two fronts : Sketching & Aptitude. Prepare systematically , learn, get the help of the ones who are willing. Learn perspective Drawing, shading, Colours usage.

NATA can be given as many number of times as desired by the candidate. For every attempt, however, test fees have to be paid afresh in full. The mark list will show the average of marks scored by the candidate in his last attempt and his previous valid score. It is highly suggested that the candidate takes it once and ace it.
