Definition : 

E-prescribing means the transmission, using electronic media, of prescription or prescription-related information between a prescriber, dispenser, pharmacy benefit manager, or health plan, either directly or through an intermediary, including an e- prescribing network. E-Prescribing Process : 

Clinician prescribes medication using either: Stand-alone e-Prescribing system CPOE system CPOE integrated within an EHR system Check for interaction, intolerances and formulary compliance Transmission Dispensing E-Prescribing Process

Eligible professionals must report the electronic prescribing quality measure through Medicare Part B claims on at least 50% of applicable cases during the reporting year Estimated allowed Medicare Part B charges for the e-Rx measure codes must total at least 10% of total Medicare Part B allowed charges.
