CALL PROCESSING IN CDMA :CALL PROCESSING IN CDMA Presented By: Mukesh Kumar

Session objectives: :Session objectives: Registration Call Procedure Mobile Terminated Call Mobile Originated Call

Registration :Registration Process by which an idle mobile lets the system know it’s awake. Registration allows mobile’s home switch to know mobile’s current location so that i/c calls can be delivered. Registration allows the system to page MS only in the area where the MS is currently located, to eliminate congestion on PCHs. Registration message(By probing) Base station ack. order

Types Of Registration :Types Of Registration Power ON When MS is turned ON Power OFF Just before MS is turned OFF Timer Based After a certain timer expires Distance based If MS moves to the further cell Zone Based If MS moves in or out of the zone Ordered BS requests the registration Parameter change If MS parameters change Implicit BS infers the MS position Traffic channel For registration in active mode First 5 are autonomous type of registration, BS informs MS at power on to resister if any of the event occur.

Local Registration :Local Registration Registration message Location update request Location update accepted Registration accept order MS BTS MSC

States of call :States of call Power-Up Mobile Station Initialization Mobile Station Idle State System Access State MS Control on Traffic Channel State Synch Channel MSG Received Pilot Channel Acquired MS Acquires System Timing Directed to Traffic Channel End Use of Traffic Channel Receives Page Originates, or Registers Unable to receive Paging Channel Message Receipt of Acknowledgement to other than Origination or Page Response message.
