Premium member Presentation Transcript Slide1: CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN Christopher Michael Elias English Teacher, Raymond High School EDSE 500 / Professor Ann Monroe July 21, 2006Definition of Classroom Management: Definition of Classroom Management Classroom management encapsulates any rules, regulations, procedures, consequences, and rewards that are necessary to create a positive learning environment for my students. Philosophy of Classroom Management: Philosophy of Classroom Management Discipline becomes necessary when the positive learning environment is disrupted. Rules, regulations, procedures, and rewards should be designed to make keeping that environment in the best interest of my students. The Positive Learning Environment : The Positive Learning Environment A positive learning environment is one that allows students to reach their full potential. Though the students in my classroom will have varied learning styles, they all can benefit from an environment that is: 1. Organized 2. Quiet 3. SupportiveRules: Rules Ask Questions Respect Everyone and EverythingClassroom Procedures: Classroom ProceduresEntering the Classroom: Entering the Classroom Please enter quietly and find your seat. Complete today’s Daily Oral Language. Once finished DOL, you can either write in your journal or read while you wait for Mr. Elias to begin class.Tardy Policy: Tardy Policy A student is tardy if he/she is not in his/her seat when the bell rings. If you are late, it is your responsibility to enter the classroom quietly and take your appropriate seat. Join your classmates in paying attention to today’s lesson. If you are late, you will immediately receive a detention with Mr. Elias. Failure to follow the above procedure will result in further consequences.Collecting Homework: Collecting Homework All homework will be collected during Daily Oral Language. If homework is not passed in during this time, it will be considered late. You lose one letter grade (8 points) for each day homework is late. After one week’s time, you cannot receive higher than a 50% on any assignment.During Class: During Class Please raise your hand to ask a question, make a statement, or leave your seat for any reason. You have three (3) emergency bathroom passes during the semester; use them wisely! Class Dismissal: Class Dismissal The bell does not dismiss you, Mr. Elias does! If desks have been moved during the lesson, return them to their original rows. Quietly, quickly exit the room when Mr. Elias dismisses you. Consequences: Consequences Verbal Warning Detention/Call Home Office Referral Severity Clause: Severe behavior will be immediately referred to the office.Rewards!: Rewards! Verbal Praise Homework Pass Call Home Student of the Unit (about every three weeks) Student of the QuarterParental Involvement: Parental Involvement Beginning of year parent-teacher conference (Aug. 3) Call at the beginning of the school year Syllabus/Expectations sent home to each parent.
