Procedures: Procedures 1. Note-taking
a. All students will keep a 3-ring binder with six sections entitled: “culture”, “vocab”, “grammar”, “daily work”, “homework” and “quizzes and tests”.
b. Anything that is on the overhead or the board is automatically written down. If I think it’s important enough to write it myself, you had better write it.
c. The first page in everyone’s notebook will be a sheet for recording their grades.
d. Students will keep blank sheets of loose-leaf paper in their binders as well.
e. Binders will be collected periodically for a grade.
f. Each page will have the proper heading.
Slide14: 2. Headings
Each page will have all of the following components in the upper right corner, in this order:
a. Individual’s number
b. Name
c. Date
d. Hour
e. The notebook section into which this paper will be put
Slide15: 3. Student Files/Returning Student Work
a. All tests and selected homework, quizzes and projects will be kept and placed into the individual student’s file.
b. Tests will be returned to students from their files after each nine-week grading period has ended (or after each parent/teacher conference, whichever comes last).
c. The tests, homework and quizzes that will be kept will be reviewed during class time, the grade recorded on the student’s score sheet, then returned. If the item is not returned, the student will receive a zero for that assignment.
Slide16: 4. When you finish early...
I will create a poster to hang on the wall that indicates acceptable activities when a student finishes early.
There will be a shelf of books (readers in English, children’s books in French) from which students may read.
b. There will be cultural word searches and simple vocabulary crossword puzzles that students may complete for one point of extra credit each.
c. Students may work on homework for another class.
d. Students may sit quietly and respectfully wait for class to continue/end.
Slide17: 5. Bathroom
There will never be a bathroom pass issued for any reason.
Ever.
