My Definition of Classroom Management: My Definition of Classroom Management The effective and consistent enforcement of a set of rules and procedures that make a productive learning environment possible


My Philosophy of Discipline/Classroom Management: My Philosophy of Discipline/Classroom Management The teacher will create an environment for learning through the extensive use of rules and procedures. The student will follow those rules and procedures to become successful. Every student is expected to get the work done to the best of their ability NO SLACKING OFF


A Positive Learning Environment is:: A Positive Learning Environment is: A place where work gets done Both students and teacher are respectful to one another Rules are consistently enforced Procedures are followed Happy


Rules: Rules Honesty Responsibility Respect Others The learning environment


New Rules: New Rules Raise your hand to speak Only one person speaks at a time Come to class prepared Ask for permission to leave seat Students may not chew gum or eat food


Consequences: Consequences Warning (verbal or written) Writing Assignment (up to three pages) Detention/Call Home Office Referral *Detention can be replaced with one-page writing assignment


Rewards and Recognition: Rewards and Recognition Class Praise Marbles added to jar Day off from lecture with baked goods (full marble jar) Individual Praise High Five Mr. Scriber’s “Shout Out” Award Student gets mix CD, homework pass, and gets to handle small tasks Awarded bi-weekly


Procedures: Procedures


Entering the Room: Entering the Room The teacher will shake the hand of every student as he or she enters Any homework will be placed in basket Students will take off backpacks, sit down, and begin work on the warm-up assignment until teacher begins the lesson If student, finishes early they are to work on their journal


Tardy Policy: Tardy Policy Students entering late have to knock on the door and I will let them in should be they have a pass They are to quietly pick up a tardy sheet, fill it out, sit down and join the class on whatever it is doing. At some point during class I will pick up the sheet, catch them up and let them know that they have a detention.


Taking the Test: Taking the Test As students enter room, the teacher will hand each one a copy of the test They are to sit down and begin work SILENTLY Every time student talks they get a consequence and lose 30 points.


Bathroom Procedure: Bathroom Procedure Students will only be allowed to use bathroom when teacher is not lecturing Student will raise their hand and ask permission to leave Teacher will set timer to five minutes If student is late more than once or otherwise abuses policy, bathroom privileges will be revoked


New Bathroom Procedure: New Bathroom Procedure Students will only be given bathroom passes if they are physically ill, eight or more months pregnant, or enduring a bleeding wound.


Class Dismissal: Class Dismissal The teacher dismisses class, not the bell. The teacher will occasionally assign an “exit ticket”, a problem that has to solved for the student to leave on time Students will leave in orderly manner or lose marbles Teacher reserves the right to hold students after the bell


Parental Involvement: Parental Involvement Syllabus Parental Calls Teacher will call every parent in random order over first nine weeks Positive calls home will be given Calls will be given to parents of students if they fall below passing at any point Parent/Teacher conferences Open House
