Classroom Management Plan :

Classroom Management Plan Aaron W. Johnson Mississippi Teacher Corps 7th Grade English Holly Springs Junior High

Definition of Classroom Management :

Definition of Classroom Management Classroom management is creating an environment by using procedures, rules, consequences, and rewards that is conducive to learning and that provides a safe, orderly, and comfortable atmosphere for instruction.

Classroom Management Philosophy :

Classroom Management Philosophy My philosophy is that an orderly classroom that has consistent discipline and procedures creates the best possible environment for learning and limits the chances for distraction. I believe in being firm and fair. Consistency provides the students with certainty of consequences and rewards and will limit the impression of bias or favoritism. Procedures and order allow for a clear understanding of expectations and give the students a consistent pattern of instruction which will limit confusion and prevent gaps in instruction.

Positive Learning Environment :

Positive Learning Environment A positive learning environment is one that has clear instruction, respect between teacher and students, and all understand the procedures, rules, consequences, rewards, and expectations. A positive learning environment is clean, organized, and calm. Any instruction is concise and given in a slow and clear tone so that everyone understands the directions. Students are praised for good work and it is displayed in the room for all to see. No person should feel uncomfortable or afraid to participate in any classroom activities and everyone feels included in this learning community.

Rules :

Rules 1) Raise your hand to speak or leave your desk unless otherwise told by your teacher. 2) Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself. 3) No cursing or offensive language. 4) Be respectful of your classmates, teacher, and yourself. 5) Do not crumple up any paper.

Consequences :

Consequences 1) Warning / Name on Board 2) Writing Assignment (Double/Triple) / Check by Name 3) Detention (ISS) & Call Home / Two Checks 4) Office Referral

Consequences (Updated)? :

Consequences (Updated)? 1) Warning – Name on Board 2) Writing Assignment – Check by Name 3) Double Writing – Two Checks 4) Corporal Punishment / ISS-Three Checks

Rewards :

Rewards 1) Verbal Praise 2) Tickets 3) Positive Call Home 4) Extra Credit * Tickets are drawn for weekly prizes from the Treasure Chest.

Procedures :

Procedures 1) As soon as you enter the classroom sit in your assigned seat, remain quiet, and begin the Do-Now on the board. You do not wait for the bell to ring and you begin working right away. If you have a question about the Do-Now, raise your hand and the teacher will call on you. The Do-Now will consist of a question in the format of a state test question that will pertain to the day's lesson.

Procedures :

Procedures 2) Anytime you complete your work or test early, raise your hand and the teacher will provide you with an activity until your classmates finish their work. Do not lay your head on your desk or begin talking to your neighbor. The activities will range from reading, upcoming work, or word-searches or other activities featuring vocabulary words and/or current subject matter.

Procedures :

Procedures 3) There are no regular bathroom passes. A student must use the time between classes for any necessary breaks. All students will be given an emergency pass signed by the teacher for one time use during the year. Once that pass is used it will be given to the teacher and no more will be distributed. There are emergency passes available in the Treasure Chest that may be earned with tickets for good behavior and class participation.

Procedures :

Procedures 4) When the students are reading aloud they are to be quite and respectful while others are reading. When they come to a word they do not understand, they must first try and sound out the word before the teacher will say the correct pronunciation. This is to build confidence and improve reading and equip them to read on their own rather than just giving them words. After the teacher pronounces the word correctly then the student must repeat it.

Procedures :

Procedures 5) The teacher dismisses students and not the bell. When the bell rings the students are not to move or pack up but to carry on as usual until dismissed by the teacher. The teacher is aware of the short amount of time between classes and will wrap up instruction quickly to prevent students from being tardy to their next class.

Parent/Guardian Involvement :

Parent/Guardian Involvement A Parent/ Guardian will receive a phone from the teacher during the first week of school to establish open communication, exchange contact information, and encourage participation in their student's success. Phone calls home. Progress reports sent home to be signed. Parent/ Teacher Conferences
