World Statistics : 

World Statistics Each year nearly 1.2 million people die and 50 millions more are injured or disabled as a result of road crashes, mostly in low-income and middle-income countries.

Indian road accident statistics of 2008 (NCRB, 2009) :

(61.5%)   Social cost of accident in 2002 in India was ` 55,000 crore!
