What are Interactive Notebooks (IAN)? :

What are Interactive Notebooks (IAN)? A personalized, standards-based textbook A working portfolio – all of your students’ notes, classwork, quizzes – in one convenient spot. Notebooking is a way for students to become more active in the learning process

Why I like Notebooking :

Why I like Notebooking Having everything in one location. It is easy to refer students back to something they had already done or something we had discussed. They help to "block" information so it provides a type of mental cataloging The focus is on student centered work

Advantages to Notebooking :

Advantages to Notebooking It acts as a portfolio Organizes material and thinking It is easy to glance at a student notebook and know what they are missing Encourages children to take pride in their work Parent conferences are much smoother when you can show them all their child's work in one location. Encourages teachers to think about how students can engage with the material daily.
