I picked this animal because it is very interesting. I also like creepy crawly creatures. Description : Description Description : Description American cockroach adults are 1 and 1/2 inches long. They are invertebrates They have reddish brown wings yellowish margin on the thorax or body region behind the head. Adaptations : Adaptations Cockroaches give birth to many babies making it possible for them to survive. Some can fly so they can escape danger and get from place to place. They are fast runners which helps them escape predators Habitat : Habitat Habitat : Habitat American cockroaches live in moist areas They prefer warm temperatures In residential areas, these cockroaches live in basements and sewers, and may move outdoors into yards during warm weather Temperatures : Temperatures They prefer warm temperatures around 84 degrees Fahrenheit They do not tolerate cold temperatures. They are cold blooded Water : Water Cockroaches will be found by a water source They need water to survive They can be found in sewers, under sinks, and any place they can access water Plant Life : Plant Life They feed on a wide variety of plant and animal material. To cockroaches, plants, food scraps, and papers are just as tasty as, say, dead insects and animal droppings Animal Life : Animal Life Cockroaches live with lots of other animals It relies on other animals to help be food or leave food Cockroaches are also food for other animals like birds.
