Why did I pick this animal? : 

Why did I pick this animal? I picked this animal because I didn’t really know a lot about cheetahs. I was hoping to learn more by researching them. I love their spots. They are very good looking.

Description : 

Description A cheetah has a slender body and very long legs It has a brownish-yellow fur with black spots It stands 3 feet and weighs 100 pounds.

Adaptations : 

Adaptations A cheetah has sharp claws and teeth to bite through meat It can run very fast which lets it get its prey Their coloring helps them blend into their environment.

Habitat : 

Habitat Cheetahs are only found in large numbers in central and eastern Africa

Temperatures : 

Temperatures Cheetahs can handle different temperatures. It can grow and shed fur to help it in both warm and cold temperatures. They hunt during the day but will find rest in the shade.

Water : 

Water Cheetahs need water to survive They can be found near fresh water They get some of their water from the animals they eat which helps it survive if there is a drought.

Plant Life : 

Plant Life Plant life is important to Cheetahs The animals that it eats feed off of the plants. If there were no plants a Cheetah could not survive.

Animal Life : 

Animal Life There are a lot of animals in a cheetah’s habitat. There are other meat eaters like lions and hyenas. There are also animals that it eats like antelope.

A Cheetah’s Senses A cheetah has very good senses. It uses it senses like hearing, smelling, and seeing to spot prey and predators that might be in its habitat. It uses its sense of touch to get around in unfamiliar place.

Life Cycle Female cheetahs are pregnant for 3 months The female gives birth to 2 to 4 cubs The cubs are often killed by other predators They stay with their mom for 15 months to learn how to hunt and survive Then they go off and live on their own
