Solving one-step equations by adding/subtracting or multiplying/dividing. Written Summary : Written Summary The first step in presenting this lesson is to introduce the topics and identify the objectives. Following the introduction, it is helpful to the students to know the vocabulary of the lesson. After the introduction and vocabulary, the Math in Motion vodcast would be implemented. Written Summary Cont… : Written Summary Cont… Following the vodcast, the students will be working through the power point lesson on solving one-step equations. Within the lesson, the students are given a real world application to setting up and solving equations. Finally, students are given time to ask any questions or voice any concerns following the lesson. Written Summary Cont… : Written Summary Cont… For extra practice, students will be given an assignment out of their textbook. Work shown will be emphasized in their practice as well as checking the solution. They will be allowed to work for the remainder of class asking any questions. VOCABULARY : VOCABULARY Equation- A mathematical sentence with an equal sign. Solution- any value that makes the equation true. Isolate- get the variable alone or by itself on one side. Inverse operations- operations that undo each other. Solving One-Step Equations : Solve –3 = m – 16. Solving One-Step Equations + 16 + 16 Solving One-Step Equations : After a very drama filled day, Amber used 112 texts to her friend Mary, which brought her monthly total to 879. Write and solve an equation to find how many texts she had before adding the new ones. Solving One-Step Equations plus = Solving One-Step Equations : (continued) Solving One-Step Equations Amber had 767 texts before adding the new ones.
