Nuclear Fission Chain reaction initiated by bombarding Uranium-235 nuclei with a neutron Produces two smaller nuclei & 3 neutrons Each neutron then splits another Uranium atom Exponential growth will occur if critical mass is present

Fusion Nuclear fusion involves forcing two relatively small nuclei to combine into a new, heavier atom Produces 3 to 10 times as much energy as fission Nuclear fusion powers the sun and stars Requires extremely high temperatures
