Child-Friendly School System This is a program of Philippine Government through the Dept. of Education and UNICEF under the Fifth Country Program for Children (CPC V). This program aims to build models of child-friendly schools for expansion during the Country Program period 1999-2003.Objectives: Objectives A Child-Friendly School aims to: Create the best learning environment for children by improving the school, family and community conditions of the children.Objectives: Objectives It strives to ensure that children stayed enrolled, find out why children drop out, falter or fail, seek out excluded children and get them back to classroom setting.When can a school be called a “child-friendly” school?: When can a school be called a “child-friendly” school? A child-friendly school is not just a place formal learning. It is an institution that: Recognizes and respects the range of rights of children, and not just their right to be educated. It takes the lead in shaping a learning environment that enables children to learn. Are created when school systematically organize data about: children’s performance (such as grades and attendance and their physical condition (e.g. health, nutrition status), and most importantly the social environment in which the children live.Student Tracking Systems (STS) What are They?: Student Tracking Systems (STS) What are They? A children’s learning profile which spans a child’s entire school career. Are only effective, when they help teachers, families and children to work together to make informed decisions about how they can coordinate their actions to make the learning environment more child-friendly, thus improving child learning especially for children with learning problems .STS: Why are They Important?: STS: Why are They Important? STS help teachers, families and community members to see what factors are affecting their children’s learning, not simply their education. STS guide teachers, families and community members to identify and undertake effective school – family- and community-based interventions to alleviate, and ideally eliminate the causes of poor child learning and create a more child-friendly learning environment.STS: Why are They Important?: STS: Why are They Important? STS can serve as an important monitoring and evaluation tool for each component of a child-friendly school. STS aids school administrators, teachers and education policy-makers and planners to evaluate the impact of innovative reaching/learning methods, including the introduction and use of technologies. Family (socio-economic status, poor motivation, family relations) C. School ( teacher-factor, curriculum, rules and regulations) D.
