Compounds With Lithium 1:

Compounds With Lithium 1 Lithium Hexaflourophosphate (LiPF6)  A white see through powder  Can be used as an electrolyte in Lithium Batteries.  May be a catalyst  Highly toxic if swallowed, inhaled or if it touches the skin.

2:

2 Lithium Oxide (Li2O)  Is formed when burnt Lithium mixes with oxygen  Reactions take place when added to water or steam.  Also known as `Lithia‘  Reaction can produce small amounts of Lithium Peroxide.

Glossary:

Glossary Petalite- A substance that lithium can be extracted from. Discovered by José Bonifácio. Electrolysis- The splitting of a substance by passing of electricity. Electron- One of the three important particles that make up the atom. Negatice charge. Neutron- One of the three important particles that make up the atom. Neutral charge. Proton – One of the three important particles that make up the atom. Positive charge. Nucleus- The center of an atom containing protons and neutrons. Carries most of the mass. Minerals- An inorganic element or compound that is naturally found on earth. Lepidolite- a violet coloured mineral. Contains lithium. Spodumene- Used to form rocks, it is another carrier of Lithium minerals. Amblygonite- A phosphate mineral that is found in Lithium. Catalyst- A substance that speeds up the rate of chemical reaction.
