Chromebook Care:

Chromebooks at School:

Chromebooks at School Chromebooks are intended for use at school each day. Students must be responsible to bring their Chromebook to all classes, unless specifically instructed not to do so by their teacher.

Chromebooks At Home:

Chromebooks At Home Chromebooks are intended for use at home each day. Students are allowed to set up wireless networks on their Chromebooks. This will assist them with Chromebook use while at home. JN Fries provides internet filtering on the district’s network. These filters do not apply in any other location. It is the family’s responsibility to monitor the student’s use of the internet outside of the school setting.

Charging The Chromebook:

Charging The Chromebook Chromebooks must be brought to school each day fully charged. If it is deemed that after a minimum of 3 days (not consecutively) the Chromebook is brought to school without a full charge, the student will need to turn their Chromebook into the JNF ITF and check it out on a daily basis. 1st offense of 3 days not fully charged- Required to “check out” their Chromebook from the JNF ITF for 3 days 2nd offense of 3 days not fully charged- “Check out” the Chromebook from JNF ITF for 2 weeks.

Parent Responsibilities :

Parent Responsibilities Talk to your children about values and the standards that your children should follow on the use of the Internet just as you do on the use of all media information sources such as television, phones, movies, and radio. Should you want your student to opt out of having a Chromebook, you will need to return a signed Device Refusal Form indicating this and understand that your student is still responsible for meeting the course requirements (may take longer).

School Responsibilities:

Provide training on how to use the Chromebook. Provide Internet access to its students. Provide Internet Blocking within the school to avoid inappropriate materials. JN Fries reserves the right to review, monitor, and restrict information stored on or transmitted via Cabarrus County School District owned equipment and to investigate inappropriate use of resources. Provide staff guidance to aid students in doing research and help assure student compliance of the acceptable use policy. Provide user accounts for free information storage in cloud-based applications. School Responsibilities
