Technology Use Plan : A plan Success hinges on them Without a plan time and money are wasted Without technology integration, students short changed “Those who fail to plan, plan to fail” Technology Use Plan Where are we at? : Technology Maturity Model survey Emergent stage of the use of technology Many resources and a great network infrastructure More staff utilize technology in the classroom on a daily basis New helpline for software & hardware issues Where are we at? Where are we at? : Struggle to bridge the gap between the IT side and the instruction Ongoing training and support are a frustration Funding low for staff and student population size Is this a new fad? What makes a strong TUP? : Start with a rounded team Single vision that focuses on learning outcomes Provides for ongoing professional development Assessment What makes a strong TUP? What makes a strong TUP? : The Team: Representative of as many stakeholders as possible People who represent teachers, staff, administration, the district, parents and students. What makes a strong TUP? What makes a strong TUP? : The Vision: Familiarity with learning research Research “best practices” with using technology Research needed facilities Research availability and cost of technology Research professional development needs and opportunities What makes a strong TUP? What makes a strong TUP? : The Plan: SIP as a guide, learner outcomes must be established Not just hardware Review often Replacement cycles What makes a strong TUP? What makes a strong TUP? : The Professional Development: Not of value if it is not put into action Ensure teachers feel comfortable and become proficient Ongoing training help and support with adequate time to develop lessons What makes a strong TUP?
